About Me

I am divorced and have two adult children who do not live at home longer and yet no grandchildren. In the past years I have been traveling all by my one. I would like to get in contact with more people and learn more about other cultures and see how local people are living.
I am a bit shy in the beginning, but when I starting to feel more comfortable I easier starting to talk. I hope being a couch surfer will help me learning how to deal with this.
I see that most couch surfer are younger than me, still I feel I go well with younger people. Most of my colleague are younger than me. Some of them are at the age of my children.
I am anxious by nature and quickly becomes excited when I experience new things. I do care of other people and always want to help. In my profession I am a supporter, so I guess it is just in my blood. :-) And I believe I am a "mother hen".

I hope I soon will feel comfortable enough both to accept guest and travel as an couch surfer. At the moment I just observing and experience how it works.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My children has left the home so I am living all on my own. I can't just be sitting home doing nothings. I want to get more friends learning more about life. I am curious and want to learn how people from other countries are living, eating and doing. The past years I most of the time has been alone when I travel. I have experienced if I get in contact with other people, I will have more experiences that will give me a more richer life. I feel I am ready to start this Couch surfing journey.

At the moment I can't accept host. This time of your I am a bit too busy. I will see later on.

Interests

I have a lot of interest.I have always liked to be creative and have always done something needlework. I also have been reading books all my life. But lately I haven't had enough time both of reading or doing needle works. There are so many new things to experience. When my children was young, I always staid at home. I almost didn't had a life outside the home or work. I always wanted to be the "mother" and I had put my own life on hold.
In the past years I have been a voluntary both at Nidaros Blues Festival and Olavsfestdagene. I also have been a "night raven", but at the moment I have a break.

I also have discovered Geocaching. If you don't know what it is you can see more at https://www.geocaching.com/guide/
In short, it is an outdoors treasure hunt where the goal is to find some kind of hidden boxes. by using a gps or even your cellphone. There are always a geocache nearby. So by travelling a lot I also will be able to find even more geocaches. :-)

I also like to cook. By meeting people from other countries I hope to learn different ways of cooking. When I am all on my own, I try to cook food with less use of flour, sugar and milk that I try to avoid. Still I eat "normal" together with other people. I also try new ways of cooking like raw food.

When guest are staying at my house, I must learn what kind of food they like so I can shop before they arrive. If I stay at other couch surfers I will eat their type of food. I am really eager to experience others' eating habits.

I also like to look for my relatives. But again, in the past years I haven't given it enough time, so this is also on break. In 2006 I contacted some relatives in Canada, and the following Easter I went for a visit. We then decided to make a Reunion. So in 2007 we had a Family Reunion in Victoria, British Colombia, Canada. In 2009 we had an other Family Reunion in Åndalsnes, Norway. Then I wrote a Family Book both in Norwegian and English.

In the past years I have tried to be more social and have joined some groups on Facebook.

Since I was a teenager I have been dancing. I love to dance, mostly swing, but I just enjoy moving to music.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have any special favorites.
I believe I am a more reader than a listener or a movie watcher.

I do listen to music but I don't listen to music all the time. Actually I also like to be in silents from time to time. In my home most of the time it is just silent. Where ever you go there are a lot of music and action. It is nice to stay calm too.
I like most all type of music I believe. I have to admit I am not used to listen to hip-hop but for a while it is OK. If I stay together with younger people I listen to their music.

I do sometime watch films, but I prefer to read so I can use my own imagination rather seeing other's imagination. Again I prefer most action and a touch of love.

I have been reading a lot of books. I mainly like books with action and crime. But I also like love stories from time to time. I am always looking for learning something new so I also read books that give me new experiences.

I think I have to tell about "the Secret" and other books by Rhonda Byrne. I like her way of philosophy and I try to live in this way. This have given me a more easier and funnier life. http://thesecret.tv/

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I like to try to break my limits, here are some of them I am proud of breaking:

In 2006 when I felt my life wasn't very good I contacted relatives and visited them. I went to Vancouver, Canada and met people I never saw before. I remember I drank some wine on the plane to become more calm before meeting a man I newer saw before. The picture of him was a very big man with long hair and a lot of beard. But the passport control was so long that I was sober until I met him. He was a very nice man. And it all resulted in two Family Reunions.

In 2014 when I started doing geocaching there was a geocache high up in a tree. To log this geocache I had to climb this three. Still like a child I didn't like climbing. With no safety I climbed about 12 meter up in the tree. I found the cache and logged it. I was very shivery when I come down but also very satisfied.

In March 2015 we had an event in Italy together with about 115 colleague. The last day we went to Milan and we could to what ever we wanted to. The same evening there was a Geocache-Event going on. I had contacted the leader before going, and he spoke English. So I decided to attend this event. So I went to the event all by my own staying an evening together with 34 strangers Italians that hardly spoke English. The leader was to busy talking to me. The only common we had was geocaching. After all I had a nice evening. I believe this evening learned me that I have to try to dare to talk with others. I do dare to met new people, but it is harder to try to speak. After the event when we were looking for some caches there were several people trying to talk to me in their struggling English. If I only had tried even more to contact them in the restaurant where we ate. Still it was a good experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

Since I quickly becomes anxious, I want to experience what ever is new to me, both by food and habits and places.

If you want to taste some Norwegian food I can make some and I can show you Trondheim.

If you do geocaching, we could go together? If not I also want time on my own doing some geocaching, but not only that. I also want to stay with you if you want to.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I live in a suburb close to Trondheim. I have a condo with three bedrooms where two of them are free.

I do have a car we can do travelling.

On daytime I am working, but on my spare time we can stay together.

But you also must do something on your own. We can't stay together 24/7.
