Overview
About Me
I just read something on somebody else's profile that I'm now going to shamelessly steal: I'm an indecisive-but-spontaneous person, which means that decisions horrify me so much that sometimes I just skip the whole process of them and just, you know, go on a trip.
For the past two years I've just been hanging around Montreal and booking punk shows with my friends (and then taking pictures of said punk shows), trying to attend some classes, sometimes, learning the difficult craft of the professional barista, and, mmm, enjoying life? I guess?
I like slow travel, hitch-hiking, arriving in a place with no plan, getting along. I don't need much to be happy and I don't really like money all that much. Dumpster-diving, recycling, making things are for me all better ways to fill your needs than killing yourself working at a job you hate.
I've taken classes in a bunch of different fields: cinema, studio arts, philosophy, sociology, politics, and next autumn I'm starting a photography program. It's all about variety, me say.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've hosted some really awesome people when I had my own apartment. Now I'm back at my parents so unfortunately I can't do it for now.
I've surfed all the way around Europe and a bit in the States and it was a (mostly) perfect experience. I prefer to travel alone so, you know, if I can meet people right off the bus, all the better.
Interests
Finding pretty or unpretty stuff and then taking pictures of said stuff.
Having strange evenings that turn into nights that turn into mornings where you follow a situation until it gets into the domain of the absurd
Going to shows because Montreal is BOOMING right now

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm an annoying movie buff - I basically spent all of my teenage years just watching movie after movie (I went to a very boring school). Off the top of my head, my all time favorites are Orson Welles, a bunch of b-series film noirs, The Third Man, Howard Hawks, John Huston, Godard, Truffaut, Woody Allen, 1930s Universal Horror films and oh shucks let's not get into this.
Music
The National, Grizzly Bear, Nina Simone, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Fats Waller, anything coming out of Motown, Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Peggy Lee, Etta James, Mahalia Jackson, Barbara, Jacques Brel, Léo Ferré, Jean Leloup, a bunch of new stuff from Montreal cause I just keep going to shows every night.
Books
The Idiot by Dostoevsky - Well, really, all of Dostoevsky - Henry Miller's tropics - Gogol, especially the short stories - André Gide - Guy de Maupassant - Saint-Exupéry - Marguerite Duras - Réjean Ducharme - Kundera - Blaise Cendrars - THERE'S TOO MUCH why those questions.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Survived this whole time, I'd say
Teach, Learn, Share
Well I know French, that's for sure. I can also try to teach you a few words if you're interested - enough to make you seem cool at a party.
