About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My mission is to be the most I can be and to teach my kids to reach for the stars.
ABOUT ME
My friends would say I'm a very outgoing person, with a passion for my children, art, entertainment, cooking, and travel. I'm never afraid of a challenge and work hard at my job and in my home. I have spent a great deal of time ensuring my children get the best educational opportunities for their specific needs. Even though I often have many activities going at once. It has beed said I inspire calmness and serenity, I practice confidence even if I don't always completely feel it. I stand up for myself and believe in people.
PHILOSOPHY
I became a member of SGI-USA just a couple of years ago because I came to realize that their philosophy is also mine,
that everyone deserves to be happy, that we should all strive to be the best at whoever we are, that we should above all be ourselves, tolerance and coexistence aren't just words but a way of life, that we should live in harmony with the environment, and that we all have the ability to become enlightened.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I couchsurfed in Amsterdam with a wonderful couple and their daughter. It is amazing to meet people and learn how similar we all really are.
Since then I have had numerous surfers to my home. The overall experience has been remarkable, I have made friends and some I continue to keep in touch with.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
As a guest and hosting, overall great.
Interests
I am a medical technologist and so a strong scientist but also very into the arts and ecology. I stay in constant motion by creating jewelry, working leather crafts, making pottery and have just begun dabbling with painting. I am a member of our local Farmer's Market and am a member of SGI Nichiren Buddhism.
My children, have moved to Pennsylvania, my son lives and works in an old bank that they are renovating into a dance school and office building and my daughter goes to school at Swarthmore in Philadelphia.
I work for a veterans hospital as a laboratory technologist

Music, Movies, and Books
Well if Johnny Depp is in it.... Psychological thrillers,
Requiem for a Dream, The Secret Window, The Others, Romances, Lovers of the Arctic Circle, Practical Magic, Mama Mia, Some historical sagas, Cold Mountain.
Music, Hugh Lorrie, Alternative rock, my kids read more than I do right now, but Lord of the Rings, Golden compass, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In our early travels before we had children, my husband(now divorced) and I went to the World's Fair in Vancouver, BC. It was the most amazing collection of exhibits and demonstrations I had ever seen or have seen since. Disney world was cool but nothing like a World's Fair.
Yellowstone National Park, I've been there many times and it's never boring, geysers, enormous mountains, natural wildlife everywhere! Especially at the end of the summer/ early fall when the migrations begin and the moose and elk come down to the towns and golf courses. For years I wanted to move near the Snake River.
Werfen, Austria, Also for the amazing mountains and crisp mornings. The people were so wonderful and although we didn't see a lot of wildlife we did make a trip into the Ice Caves.
Absolutely amazing, the tour guide didn't speak English but we didn't care, we were breathless just being there. Later I saw a National Geographic program on the caves and it explained everything we missed but wasn't nearly as awesome as being there.
Teach, Learn, Share
Ok well as I tell my children I'm old, in other words I have had quite a few experiences in my life so If you would like to know about National Parks in the US I can give you some ideas. I have been to Yellowstone, Yosemite, Big Bend, Hot Springs and The Smoky Mountains to name a few. I traveled to Iquitos Peru on 3 occasions, the jungle, rain, ugly fish and 3rd world conditions.
In respect to skills, I am a decent cook, ok seamstress and jewelry maker. For a couple of years I home schooled children who had difficulty with the public system. In that time I taught everything from reading and writing and math to pottery, building aquariums, planting gardens and fishing with nets to sewing.
I have taught my profession over the many years I have done it.
I absolutely love to learn new things and just would like to know the ins and outs of the places I go so I can come back more easily each time. I like to see the markets, farmer's markets, flea markets and flower markets. I love to see how people live day to day.
