ABOUT ME

Hello,

My name is Melba, I was born in Ecuador. I am a very sociable person, I love traveling, meeting people; having fun; nature and art. I love relaxed and fun people.

I am a little absent minded and very spontaneous, I love adventure and new experiences.

I am part of a family with two sisters and one brother, I am the oldest. I am very close to my family we share a lot. It’s an important part of my life which I really enjoy.

I studied biotechnology and ecology. I like very much nature, adventure and science that´s why I chose this field. To study ecology was a great opportunity to travel around my country from the Galapagos Islands to the Amazon Basin passing by the Andes, and even when I have had the opportunity to visit other beautiful places in the world, I still believe Ecuador is a special place off course it´s my country, but more than that, people are very kind and nice always willing to help moreover they are very interested in foreigners.

Fortunately I had the opportunity to travel, visit very nice places and meeting very interesting people. When I was teenager, I went to U.S. A. to learn English and for the first time I met people from many different countries like Japan, Iran, Russia, Korea. It was such a great experience for me to get involved with people of different cultures, languages and countries. From this time on, when I travel I like not only to visit the place but also get involved with the culture and to make friends, to invite them to come and visit me in my country and to keep in touch.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would love to meet people who come to visit my country, to show them around the city. To give them advise about what places to visit, even to organize some trip together.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had my first CS experience in Amsterdam. It was very nice and an eriching experience. I was hosted in Amsterdam for a girl national from Curacao, it was great to share culture, to see the place with a person that is almost native of the place it was a wonderful experience.

I am hosting people in my house since november 10th 2010. I love to host people who with I can have a nice talk, to share and I have had very nice experiences, we have organized trips, go to parties, for me it´s important that people get to know Ecuador the culture and the amazing nature we have.

Intereses

I love nature, that´s why I love excursions trekking, camping and also adventure sports: rafting, kayaking, climbing. I love dancing, I am especially interested in tango and flamenco. I love drawing and painting.

I also like bossa nova: Astrud gilberto, electronic tango: Gotan project and Bajo Fondo. music in english: Cramberries my favorite, U2, Cold play.

My favorite writer is Isabel Allende, Paula, my favorite book, a very touching book.

My favorite movie: Life is beautiful, A great film, the only one that made me cry and laugh.

Algo increíble que he hecho

One of the most amazing things I have done in my life, it was when I was working in a foundation of ecological studies with the indigenous communities in the Ecuadorian rainforest.

We traveled there and we spent three weeks in their communities, we visited three towns we traveled through the river between them.

It was wonderful to take a boat and to paddle all the way down through the river; to fish and cook our own food; to camp and sleep under the most amazing nights full of stars; to spend time with the people who live happy in their communities, without potable water, electrical light and with their houses made of cane.

I enjoyed so much talking with the women, playing with the children, taking baths in the Pastaza River or watching the sunset, it was just beautiful.
