Overview
About Me
I'm (about to be) a recent premed graduate of the University of Southern California, where I've studied neuroscience and political science, and, importantly, lived an incredibly full four years! I did not chose my areas of study at random - I'm fascinated by the human condition, and my focuses have helped me to come at it from very different perspectives.
At the same time, traveling has been essential in shaping my thinking – what better way to learn about Marxism (at least, how it's been implemented) than to listen to a family in Centro Havana tell you about it candidly in their living room? The answers are never easy, but when was anything easy ever worth devoting a life to? Perhaps Nietzsche put it best when he wrote, "We all feign to ourselves that we are simpler than we are, we thus relax ourselves away from our fellows."
Besides science and politics, I'm a lover of music and culture, and though perhaps slightly more introverted than average, an ardent conversationalist. I love people and I love to party, but I'm equally comfortable enjoying a quiet day in nature and/or with a good book, or working with my hands outdoors.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm looking to travel and learn what it's like for people to live outside the US west coast (and Hawaii, where I'm from). This seems like the best way to meet 'real' people on their terms and get to know the place they call home.
