About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Letting go of trying to control every detail. Facing the wind and letting it carry me where I need to go. Not taking one minute for granted. Enjoying filling each day with beauty, joy, friends and learning. Learning to be content.

ABOUT ME

I am happy to say I have a great life... I love my work, my son and the friends and family we have found in this beautiful place we live. I appreciate people who are honest and open in discussions and give the same in return. Laughter, good food, a glass of wine or cold beer, candles and sharing stories at the dinner table, long after the meal is finished. I am trying to give my son a chance to meet people and cultures from around the world -- to help him see how important it is to look at a globe and imagine friends all over it. While I might like to go to museums and tourist sites, my favorite is to spend enough time in a place where you smile and greet those you pass on the street. I like to become a part of the community and make friends to treasure forever.

In this digital age, I still hoard books. I love the look of them, the smell of them and how they feel under my fingers. I love to open one for a reason and accidentally find myself reading something unexpected that holds me for a long while.

So, that's me in a large nutshell ;)

PHILOSOPHY

Truth.
Compassion.
Joy in humanity.

People. Stories. Lives. Companionship.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have hosted and then were hosted. Words are insufficient to describe the rich, lifechanging experiences we shared. Needed to take the past several years to take care of other things. Now, feeling settled enough to begin this adventure again. Our place is small and some days just too tight. But I will always give you an honest answer if you ask.

Good travel... and with aloha...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A full month in France and Italy with my son, meeting friends we'll never forget. Now I find myself wanting to return, bearing gifts for the children (who are all a little older!!) and seeing these friends once again. It is a rich and worthy goal. And too important to miss.

Interests

Books, hiking, movies, sharing meals and laughs, learning languages and making friends from all over the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Millions of baby jelly fish newly hatched in sea water. I was living on a float camp (barge) in Southeastern Alaska, which was tied up to a large log raft. The jellies were so beautiful.
