About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am on an adventure. Traveling across Europe and North America catching up with my old friends and hopefully making new ones in the process, and if I'm lucky by the end of it I will see some Narwhals.
ABOUT ME
I am a happy person (especially when outdoors) who likes to talk but also enjoys the quite moments in life. I love to laugh and make others laugh.
My hands are always busy making crafty things.
I love learning new skills and sharing what I have learned with others.
I am a compassionate person with a strong sense of social justice and concern for environmental conservation.
I like to be resourceful. I get enjoyment out of fixing things, taking them apart, learning how they work and putting them back together.
I am part fish. I feel most at home when I am in the ocean. I am fascinated by deep-sea creatures.
I love being able to communicate with people from all walks of life.
I am aware of how fortunate I am to be able to travel and enjoy so much of what this great planet has to offer. I've been known to feel a little guilty about it, so contributing to worthwhile charities like Warchild and Peace Direct is important to me. I also love hearing any new and creative fundraising ideas.
I enjoy volunteering where possible - it's such a great way to really get to know a place and its people. I have been fortunate enough to spend some time teaching English in primary schools in Uganda and Madagascar. I have also enjoyed the benefits of cultural exchange while tutoring English at my local refugee/asylum seeker resource centre in Melbourne.
If I could have 3 (selfish) wishes they would be:
to be able to speak every language in the world (including animal talk), to be able to breath underwater, and to have the ability to teleport.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I like the idea of being able to offer a little more than conversation to potential couch owners. So if I end up on your couch and you have any clothes that need mending, odd repair jobs, I'd be happy to help. I also don't mind weeding for those with gardens. I like to be of use.
I have no fixed residence at the moment due to my travels, however I have lived in Melbourne for the last 4 years and plan to settle there again when I return later this year. I am looking forward to getting my couch out of storage and offering it up to travelers in need.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Before hearing about this awesome site I have had a lot of fun meeting people on my travels and taking them up on their generously-offered hospitality - and I've been able to return the favour when they were in my part of the world.
My favourite couch surfing experience was in Exmouth, Western Australia where I was doing my PADI scuba diving course. I met a woman named Clair who was studying to become an instructor. She was staying in a broken-down campervan behind the dive shop, which had a bunk bed. She offered me the top bunk and we have been friends ever since. She came to stay with me in Melbourne for a week before she headed back to the UK.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is a big part of my life. I love so many different types. Electronic, punk, hip hop, Soul, folk, low-fi, experimental noise, etc. At the moment my itunes most played list would say: Fugazi, The Kinks, Animal Collective, The Clash, The Weakerthans, Elliott Smith, The Cure, Bon Iver, Crystal Castles, Aretha Franklin, Cass Mcombs, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Sam Cooke, Beastie Boys, Besnard Lakes, Nina Simone, Big Black, Shellac, Slint, Billy Bragg, Mos Def, The Beatles, Beach Boys, Sublime, Lupe Fiasco, The Smiths, Lyrics Born, Outkast. Ohh how the list goes on. I have taken too much space up with music.
My favourite authors are Dave Eggers and Chuck Palahniuk, and my favourite movies are The Big Lebowski and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I also love documentaries on anything and everything. David Attenborough anything.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have had the amazing opportunities to hang out with Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda, explore the forests of Andasibe in Madagascar (finding all sorts of lemurs and chameleons), swim for 2 hours with a whale shark and spend a few hours snorkeling/playing with sea lion pups in Western Australia.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach metalwork and jewellery-making skills. I can also help out with English needs. I am happy to share any info people may want to know about Australia. Overall the best thing I can teach people is a fun drawing game called 'Morphimals'.
I am always wanting to learn new skills. New cooking tips and flavours are always welcome. I am looking into getting my boat license back in Australia so any boating experiences would be amazing. I also would like to get into caving and climbing as well as improving my very basic (ocean) surfing skills. So if anyone out there wants to skill share I would love that.
