About Me

ABOUT ME

Imagine this, I will save all of you from saying that I m an easygoing, open minded, funny and party crasher kind of guy. It seems that all of these atributes are findable in the 99,9℅ of CS profiles, so i can dispense all of you from those common qualities. And saying this is saying a lot. Mainly, I'm a calm person. Gentle and polite (at least I hope...). Definetively I am a shy person at first sight and that sometimes tends to be confused with arrogance or coldness.

I like friendship, to share meals and drinks around a fireplace.
I love to watch raining outside and the amazing feeling of a hot summer night.
I love to dance (well, to try it) even if awfully are usually fun times.

I m someone that hates the nowadays too many cliches and prejudices about everything and everyone.

I always prefer to think with my own brains and not by the fast food served soundbytes of the television and other mass media blablablas.

This said, i try to putt into practice basic values and principles in my daily life like respect and belief in the others.

I really like to know different cultures, other perspectives from one same world, which is just possible connecting with other people personal experiences.

Even if talkative i'm much more of a listener one. And is always the better way to learn.

I'm very curious and attentive. I hate not to understand things.
I don't travel to all inc. resorts.

I like details, small things that really in some cases may make all the difference.

I had a stable job and by my own decision i quited from it to establish independently and all by myself. Its tougher, maybe not so profitable but mentally much more healthier. So, i can say that i'm more of a free spirit that prefers to conquer little things like some independence or flexibility in life than spending a whole life regreting or excusing my life's destiny with other's faults (yes, and here I also include the governments).

I'm a happy workaholic because I'm really passionate about what I do and I am highly demanding on it.

I really love an upgraded humour or saying by other words a more catchy and no so obvious one and I´m much into it.

PHILOSOPHY

I m really not much into particular philosophies but I could say that I'm someone that believes in basic values. Respect others like you want to be respected.

Always give a first chance or doubt's benefit to others.

Don't count too much on others to solve your own problems but always be available for helping those others, because the example is the better way of people to learn and change their attitudes.

Be able to laugh of yourself.

Don't take life too seriously. It will not reward you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have registered some years ago but i unfortunattely never paid much attention to the site. A good example of that is the fact that just in 2012 i m writing my profile.

The idea came from a friend of mine "Joao", a experimented hoster here in lisbon of CS and throughout him i have met a lot of people from around the globe that actually some I visited after in their own countries.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Like above resumed, my biggest experience in CS has been in some gatherings (some dinners, parties, etc) with CS surfers that come to my friends home.

Anyway i have hosted one time and even knowing that was not the best experience ever(was more a kind of free airport private transfers, b&b, some meals offered and neither a thanks or a feed back) I know that one bird doesn't make the spring and I've already known a lot of great and fascinating people via CS.

I'm more of a hoster than of a surfer but I don't have doubts that the surfing experience may give a more complete perspective of the whole CS project.

Interests

Too many and not much time to put them in practice.

Nature, and I think it doesn't need any explanation.

I love sports in general, but nowadays mostly swimming, golf, some gym workout, jogging close to Lisbon's river (Tejo) and in the winter season some snow trips are always welcome when "time" allows it :-)

Rugby is one of the sports that I mostly like to watch and I much appreciate the team values that usually support them.

Beside of it, I'm really interested and passionate about contemporary art, design and photography. And a good part of my travels have also or mainly an art seeing purpose. My taste covers a very different and wide range of artists.
I just let here an example of a rising portuguese street artist - VHILS whose body of work deserves to be seen

like the one of Joana Vasconcelos

Wine is another great passion, mostly for red wines and in terms of portuguese wine grapes I would recommend without a doubt a "touriga nacional" one. It's pure sensuality.

Travel around the globe is one of the greatest things in life and that easily brings a lifelong learning and a different understanding of all things in life.

One of the few things that I miss when abroad is portuguese food, especially bacalhau/codfish with sweet potatoes in the oven dipped in a gigantic olive oil portion and garlic.

I'm not very up to touristic places and I always prefer to feel the vibes of the native's quotidian.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm very wide ranged in terms of musical preferences so I'm up to almost all kinds of music, just depends on the mood and circumstances but I enjoy some cozy chill out music or some bossa nova with a red wine.

Even if not a music that I hear so much, I have to call attention to the new generation of portuguese fado singers like Mariza, Carminho and Ana Moura that are giving to the old classic fado a contemporary approach.

Books: several, again in a very wide thematic;

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

make someone (a friend or just a stranger) happy, even if just for a moment; I believe that hapiness is made of those moments too and are priceless.

Of course, "crazy" amazing things happened to me but those don't fit in a cold and grey profile like this one.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm more of a learning person, so I'm always more up to it than to teach. Certainly I will have something to teach too, perhaps that maybe you should avoid to have a too serious and slushy profile like this one seems to sound. :-)

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Morocco, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom
