I'm 39 years old, an avid reader and total geek, a fantastic baker and passable cook. I'm a die hard blue girl who's been stuck living in a red state. When and if I settle down again, I hope to land in a much more friendly and progressive place. I enjoy the outdoors, hiking and backpacking, and love to find and ogle the nearest waterfall. I love blogging and crafting, and enjoy telling and listening to stories.

I've found myself in a position to finally experience the world. I'm hoping to couch-surf and camp, riding buses and hitchhiking around the US, and possibly other countries, depending on how it goes. I was only recently bitten by the travel bug, and I'm looking forward to meeting other left-leaning people all over the country. I'm interested in possibly starting a travel blog, and sharing my adventures with anyone who will read them.

I have very eclectic tastes in music, but tend to be lyrically driven. My favorite movie is subject to change, but there are some classics, like "The Princess Bride," which will always be on the list. My all-time favorite books are those in the "Dark Tower" series, but I'm constantly reading, usually more than one book at a time. Currently, I'm reading "Between the World and Me," "The Wee Free Men," and "Red Seas Under Red Skies." I tend towards fantasy in my fiction, and social justice related topics in my non-fiction, but I do stray wherever my impulses lead.

I only went on a plane for the first time this year, and it was to go to England and France. I did Paris on my own, without ever having navigated a city before my hosts showed me around London, and never having traveled on my own.
