About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Explore as much as I can and meet like-minded people!

ABOUT ME

Hello, I'm Rebecca. I'm English-Korean and was born and raised in South Korea. I’ve been living in Amsterdam for the last few years, but I’ve just returned to Korea.

(2023 Update: I just re-activated by account post paywall. I had a really positive Couchsurfing experience during my travels, and I'm back in the hope that the same types of people are around here!

Note: I’m not able to host at the moment, but I’m available to join meet-ups and offer advice about my area. Please don’t reach out if you intend to use this as a dating platform.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined Couchsurfing in 2012 to meet new people, both visitors or hosts to wherever I may travel. Though I'm not currently available to host, I'm happy to meet up, show people around or give advice about my current city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was fortunate to make some really great connections and friendships through Couchsurfing. I met some very kind, generous, and interesting people who really helped enrich my travel experiences. Some of my most memorable experiences so far were in Brazil, Italy and Japan.

I've hosted and couchsurfed a few times, but I mostly use this platform to meet up with fellow travellers and locals.

Interests

Of course I enjoy travelling as much as I can, learning about different cultures and learning languages. I'm also interested in design, photography and videography. I care a lot about educating myself more on issues like feminism, anti-racism, LGBT+ rights, etc. I try to practice mindfulness, yoga and be active in general. I love checking out live performances and of course having good food!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I quit my job at the beginning of August 2016 to fulfil my dream of travelling long term around Brazil by myself. I bought a one-way ticket to Rio de Janeiro with no real itinerary and spent around seven months backpacking around the country. From Brazil, I spontaneously moved to Amsterdam. This was my first time visiting the Netherlands, and I've been living here since April 2017.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm interested in making meaningful connections with good people, wherever they may be from.

As a native English speaker, I'm happy to help anyone who wants to learn or practice their English. I'd love to brush up my Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, or learn a new language.
