About Me

ABOUT ME
I am a fun loving person with a passion for learning, meeting people, exploring new places and cultures, pursuing and sharing new experiences and making new friends! I have travelled in lots of places in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South and Central America, as well as the North of Africa (Morocco) and the South (Cape Town). I have found so far that the world is full of interesting, welcoming and smiling people; the more I explore the more fantastic people I come across. Its such a buzz!

PHILOSOPHY

I guess my philosophy is to treat others with as much kindness, love and respect as possible and hope that it has a domino effect. Also understanding that everyone is different and taking that on board too- basically I do my best everyday to keep and open mind and heart. I try not to take myself to seriously by remembering to have a laugh as much as I can and being honest- what you see is what you get with me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am more than happy to meet folks for a coffee or beer and show them around this part of the world and if they wish to see somewhere a bit off the beaten track. When I come back from my trip I will look into accommodation some more..

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had too much experience here but have surfed plenty of friends' couches over the years. When I lived in London when I was younger I was known as Beccy Stray Cat!

Interests

Music, dancing, art, films, reading, cooking, yoga, walking/ hiking/ exploring, travelling, spending quality time with friends and family, reading about and discussing current social/ political/ environmental issues, organising fundraising events (something I did a few years ago before and after my travels), looking for people places and cultures to visit and interact with all over the world, meeting new people and making new friends as much as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite films (in no particular order)- Withnail and I, Napoleon Dynamite, Les Enfants Du Paradis, All about Eve..I could go on and on..
Favourite Books- Apple Acre by Adrian Bell, Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Favourite Music- too much to mention - but anything with a jungle/reggae/jazz/blues/soul/afrobeat/salsa vibe usually gets me moving ;).

Usually steer clear of pop ballads, happy hardcore and rnb smooth grooves with the odd exception!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I volunteered teaching English and did art classes in a very rural part of Nicaragua for 9 weeks. It was an unforgettable experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to share stories and experiences and learn from whoever I meet every time, all the time.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Fun times!! I love to cook for people and help out around the house. I like to get stuck helping out where I can and work as a part of a team. That sounds like something you would say in a job interview but its true! Hopefully soon I'll be able to teach English properly and professionally too! Can also teach a few guitar chords though a virtuoso I am not.

Countries I’ve Lived In

England, Spain
