About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn more about my global family and lend a helping hand

ABOUT ME

I have four AMAZING kids who shape my world.

PHILOSOPHY

We're here on earth for experience and connection. We need to learn from each other.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I can't count the number of couches I've occupied in my days... but that was before I knew of something called "couchsurfing."

Interests

I have a desire for self-sufficiency and hope to one day break free from the token economy and live off-the-grid (maybe to prove that autonomy is possible... maybe to eventually teach others how to avoid dependence on corporate powers). I also have a long-term interest in indigenous populations and how people preserve their native language and culture. I have a lot of interests... music, cooking, physics/astronomy, self-sustainability... too much to list.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have too many favorite books to list, but one that comes quickly to mind is The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. I recently finished The Gene by Siddhartha Mukherjee and highly recommend it as well. I promise I don't only read Indian authors. ;) A lot of my recent reading tends to be in the fields of sociological theory and educational methods, but I did just finish some Wole Soyinka. I don't watch many movies (mostly kid stuff because of my "lowest common denominator" rule), but I listen to all types of music, all the time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is a tough one- but watching the sunrise from the top of Mt. Sinai was definitely amazing. So was enjoying a hammam in Marrakesh, locking eyes with a tiger in the wild at a preserve in India and taking arte by the Ganga in Rishikesh, taking in my first glimpse of the Himalayas, watching the sunset at the Grand Canyon, nude rockclimbing in southern Utah... the birth of each of my children... actually, there are so many amazing experiences that happen on the daily in my own little corner! Every sunset is amazing-- as is every sunrise.

Teach, Learn, Share

There isn't much I don't want to learn. So far, I've learned quite a bit in my time and will teach as you so desire. I can milk goats, make cheese, grow a garden... I will try to DIY just about anything with some guidance. I can create an on-the-spot critical analysis of just about any social phenomenon (but whether or not it's any good will be up to you). I'm fascinated by astronomy, natural healing (alternative medicine), cellular biology, theoretical physics, and many other things. On a practical level, I plan to build a natural home one day (strawbale or cob, most likely) so anything you can share in that regard would be very much appreciated. I also love languages and music so please do teach me what you know!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't know! I am a good listener but I'm not sure what you might like for me to share with you.
