About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to look at the world from a local's point of view and meet people that are curious about differences and similarities in cultures. I strive to travel in a way that contributes and doesn't harm people or the environment as much as possible.

ABOUT ME

I currently work remotely at a worker owned (cooperative) business that offers shared leadership and management trainings. My heart is in the cooperative business model and I believe in its power to guide us into a better world and economy. I’m studying cooperative management in a three year masters program (always excited to talk about coops)!

When I’m traveling, I love taking walks, exploring through public transportation, and experiencing new places while hoping to dive deeper than the average traveler. I like to visit libraries or/and local bookstores everywhere I travel and purchase a book by an author from the area or at least about the area.

I enjoy sharing food and drinks as well as chatting about experiences and beliefs. As a couch surfer, I can be independent as well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking forward to meeting mindful people around the world for conversations about experiences, world views, politics, love, and life.

I have been amazed by the kindness and curiosity of strangers (new found friends).

Interests

I spend a bit of time on my computer for work, reading (I use my library card), exploring nature, dancing (mostly Tango), checking out queer scenes in new cities, and social justice advocacy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love soul music like etta james, aretha franklin, and music like Beyonce and Kate Nash. I often listen to top 40 and music that makes me wanna move.

I also enjoy going dancing to salsa, bachata, and argentine tango.

You can find me reading memoirs, self-help, graphic novels, and trying to learn more about real history.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is difficult for me to answer, but maybe it’s the time I walked 60 miles in 3 days for a fundraiser. I also really enjoyed marching in the world pride parade in NYC.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share what's happening in New Orleans on a current and historic context.

I'm eager to learn about what's happening in other cities and making connections. I always want someone to practice Spanish with and also learn bits and pieces of other languages.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Goods from New Orleans (beads, spices, beignet mix, you name it!). I can also share my experiences and sometimes make some food although cooking is not my strongest suit!

If you’re visiting New Orleans, here’s what I recommend:

In the French Quarter, you could try Horn’s restaurant or Coops for food. You can drink alcohol on the street, so grab a drink and walk around. Make sure to walk along the river!

For eating seafood: Kenner seafood or Seithers

Eat some beignets - cafe du monde in City Park or in the French Quarter

Rollin Fatties is a DELICIOUS food truck. Usually not far from the quarter (look them up on instagram)

Go to City Park and check out the sculpture garden (free).

Brown Butter or Blue Oak BBQ are delicious restaurants not far from city park

And, I also like getting a po boy (sandwich) from Parkway Tavern (near city park).

You might also want to do a swamp tour! They are a cool way to see alligators. You can also venture out of the city to the barataria preserves and see if you can spot a gator on a walking trail.

Take the streetcar along St Charles street.

Countries I’ve Visited
