About Me

Hey hey! I'm Becky!

I like to think I'm a friendly, cheery person, I'm normally smiling like how you see in the photo, although my hair is a quite a lot shorter now.
I'm a student in Montreal, studying a bit of an eclectic mixture of arts and humanities, actually I have quite an eclectic taste in things in general. I like brightly lit shop signs, I like it when you can see from the street that someone has lots of plants in the windows. I love going up and down the aisles in foreign supermarkets because all the packaging looks more colourful than in the UK, France has particularly pretty tins. I love going to diners and getting fries and coffee.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Its the best! It's so nice to be able to get to grips with a city a little more from the inside, and see to be able to appreciate it a little more from the locals perspective. Its much nicer to meet the people who are into couch surfing than to not meet people, which is sort of my experience with hostels.

I can't currently host in Montreal because my flatmates have tight rules, but when I return to Glasgow next year then please come stay! Me and my friends have a great, crumbling, lofty flat in Glasgow, its a little cold but there's a spare mattress on the floor (sorry thats all we have to offer!) and lots of duvets and a sofa in the kitchen where people are always staying, our home is a bit of a hub for large dinners and collecting large amounts of people together.

Interests

I suppose more on the arty side, I like drawing and go to a lot of galleries/museums, I also make weird collaged films. I also really like architecture which means that visiting cities is endlessly exciting, so many buildings to look at. In a new city I like to walk around a lot and meander up alleys and strange parts, and eat in small tucked away cafes, especially ones with really garish decoration.
I also like going to small local gigs, preferably post-punk and some type of loud/discordant music.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love talking in the kitchen and can excitably stream away a conversation. I can tell you all about Montreal/Glasgow/London if you want to know anything about those cities! I love to bring home nice delicacies that I have found in my city wandering, pastries/cakes/good bread or such like. I'd much rather be able to give some lovely people interesting gifts as a thank you than have to give money to an anonymous hostel.
