About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To Boldly Go. Anywhere.
ABOUT ME
I have 4 piercings, 5 tattoos, and one beard. I like wearing my toque despite any weather or circumstance. I am a creature of routine. I don't normally stray from my norm, but when I do, it's often a great leap.
I wear different coloured socks, every day. One black, one white. Hanes. I'm picky about my socks. For a long while now, it has been white on right, black on left. This was to avoid having a black sock, with my one black Converse, as I have one black, and one red. Before this pair of shoes, I wore the other set, and had to wear the socks on the opposite feet. And no, I am not totally crazy. Back in highschool, a friend of mine who sat in front of me told me that he thought I was going to go gothic. He said it would slowly creep on, and more and more I would start wearing black clothes, and making the transformation. I told him it would never happen. But ever since then, I have worn 1 black sock, every day. Because of Graham, just for giggles.
I am a metal fabricator by trade, and I tinker with electronics and computers as a hobby. When I'm not working, I'm often found at home hanging out with my two ferrets.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couchsurfed my way in Berlin a couple years ago, and it was the my first real adventure of my life. I lived. That was the first time I got really into the whole couchsurfing life. From there I've now started going to more local things when I can, and I've even had the chance to host a wonderful girl who I still consider to be a dear friend to me.
I did a last minute backpack/hitchhike trip to England more recently, so I showed up without any couches lined up. This was the first time I made use of emergency couch requests, and I met some of the most helpful and welcoming hosts yet. The ride I took from the strange man with a windowless van with ropes in the back was a little more sketchy.
Interests
I like to do things with my hands, and stay active in my free time. I like to exercise and used to do Crossfit, but since I've bought a house I lean more towards the free activities like hiking, biking, geocaching and getting outside. I'd like to make things, and dream up contraptions that I will never get around to making, that have no purpose. Or more likely, that I'll start designing or building and never getting around to finishing.
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies I watch can be all over the place. A good laugh is normally a win.
Music these days have more of an indie/acoustic/folky sound to them. In the past I have gone through various phases with rock, alternative, metal, classical, ska... I like a lot of music. I prefer things that (if they have lyrics) you can understand the words to, and they have meaning. And there's stuff with bass and a beat... I have three Bonnaroo Music Festivals under my belt, and each have been their own smelly musical adventure with their own story to tell.
As far as books go, I've never really been a fan. I have a small collection of unique picture books, mostly from the perspective of Bigfoot or squirrels.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I changed the colours on Niagra Falls. How many people can say they've done that. :)
I was able to hitch hike from south of London to Edinburgh and back, and it was wild and crazy. The first people to pick me up however were highway patrol. Lucky for me it was Christmas day, and I played an innocent Canadian card and they drove me to a busier (and legal) place to hitch.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can juggle, and I have taught others how to juggle before too. It can be pretty easy with a little practice.
I would like to learn another language. And sign language. One day, I'll take a class...
I like to cook, and I'm always happy to be taught anything new.
