About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Be weird and find weirder.
ABOUT ME
I'm talkative and social, but right now, I'm trying to adopt a more listening-based approach. I'm open minded, free spirited, laid back, and a bit of a realist. I think it's more important to be prepared for chaos than to have a good plan in place.
I'm adventurous in an agreeable sense. I will accompany you on whatever it is you want to do, and if no one wants to do anything, I will sit here in this dive bar and watch the world go by.
I enjoy music, conversation, hiking, farming, eating, and bad weather. Seriously, I love bad weather. I also love window seats and open roads.
I like to understand the history of a city, the alternative side but also the alternative to the alternative. I like to know about the design, layout, flow, organization, culture, art, tensions, and bonds of a place when I visit it.
I like history, the environment, and people.
PHILOSOPHY
Absorb from all sides. Make connections. Live in truth. Understand. Love.
My favorite word right now is meaningful. Every place and no place is home.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed once or twice in Europe and I've hosted once or twice in Boston.
Interests
I enjoy music and dive bars. I like travel and relationships. I speak freely about the human condition, behavior, food, and sometimes the environment.
I'm interested in problems, solutions, economic systems, political ideas, art and artistry, global affairs, history, sustainability and development, returning to nature, traveling to space, going off the grid, making better cities, igniting passions, saving trees and oceans and human souls.
I read five books at a time and stream two documentaries at once. I wouldn't advise this at all, I just get very excited about things and don't really understand focus.
I like photography, especially of people and faces, industrial environments, urban realities, out-of-focus anything, and skies and skyscapes.
My music tastes are mainstream and obscure, outdated and modern, all above. Really enjoying the Tapes from Africa website, haunting singer/songwriters, and west coast pop punk. At a stage in life where I'm digging up artists' anthologies and enjoying commentary on music albums.

Music, Movies, and Books
Americana and alt-country, folk, rock, alternative, folk punk, new-age, blues rock
I don't like books about love or relationships. Romance, I guess they call it.
I don't know what I like, but I like to learn from what I read, which often brings me to historical fiction, non-fiction, and philosophy. This is why I have 5 books open at once ... because I often get bored with my content-heavy choices.
I'm enjoying reading about post-colonialism these days.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I don't have a go-to answer for this. Everything is amazing! The Swiss Alps blew my mind and Acadia, Maine, is one of my favorite spots to have a cup of coffee. Norway expanded my horizons in more ways than one. I have a tremendous appreciation for the kind of open space I've found myself in throughout the Midwest of the USA and the north/center of South Africa, and big skies make my heart flutter.
