About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Livin' life to its fullest everyday.

ABOUT ME

I'm a recent college graduate who was born and raised in the wonderful vibrant city of New York. This May I graduated from Oberlin College (a small liberal arts college in Northeastern Ohio) where I majored in History and minored in Politics. I have recently returned to my home city, New York City, to work as a teacher for the year. I love learning languages, meeting people, art, music and navigating subways and buses of cities throughout the world and above all traveling. I can safely say that my most favorite thing in life is traveling and exploring new countries, cities, and cultures. I feel that the exchange of culture through traveling is extremely important and is such a unique experience that enables the broadening of horizons and one's perspective of the world. As I am new to CouchSurfing, I am looking forward to participating and ready to share my culture while learning from those that I encounter.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While I am just starting as a CouchSurfer, I have participated in similar exchanges. Since a young age, my family and I have done home exchanges where we have let people from all around the world stay at our house in Manhattan in return for us to stay with them in their respective locations. Paris, Toronto, San Francisco, Vermont and are all places we have home exchanged and soon Italy will be added to this list. I am looking forward to participating in CouchSurfing, as it seems to be such an amazing cross-cultural experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just because I'm new to couchsurfing.com doesn't mean that I have not had any couchsurfing experience. Earlier this year a friend and I went up to Montreal for our school vacation. As we did not have a place to stay, we called up one of our friends who we knew had a friend living in Montreal. We called him up, he agreed for us to surf his couch for the four days we would be in Montreal and we had a splendid time together. It was much better than staying in a hostel, as we strayed away from the ultra-touristy business and he showed us all around the city. It was great meeting someone new in a foreign city and that he took us around the city he loves.

In July/August of 2008 I couchsurfed twice in Berlin, twice in Prague and once in Venice. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I can't wait to do it again!
