About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Move to a city and brew the greatest beer known to man. I try to keep my goals realistic.

ABOUT ME

I really identify with Bob Dylan's idea of "no direction home," meaning he felt he was born very far from where he was supposed to be, and he's just trying to find his way home.

PHILOSOPHY

It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've mostly surfed up until now; Seattle, Montana, SD, MN, KY, Montreal, etc. I'm very excited to be able to start giving back by hosting!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mostly I've surfed other people's couches. I recently surfed around Seattle for about three weeks, got to know the city a bit, did some exploring, etc. I've been through other great cities with CS (Louisville, Montreal) but Seattle stands above the rest in my mind.

Interests

Brewing and tasting beer, adventures, exploring, food!, philosophy, design, art, spirituality, film, music (especially live), board games, good black coffee, the ocean.

Music, Movies, and Books

My Morning Jacket, The Black Keys, Radiohead, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, The Velvet Underground, Led Zeppelin, Benevento Russo Duo, Otis Redding, Pink Floyd, The Bad Plus, Common, Broken Social Scene, Kings of Leon, Do Make Say Think, etc. etc.

I like Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan, the Coen Brothers, and MANY many others.

I've been reading a lot of short stories lately, David Foster Wallace, Jon Raymond, etc.; any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Five nights of My Morning Jacket shows in New York City. Everything worked out perfectly, I stayed with some amazing friends, met some fantastic new ones, ate a different cuisine for every meal, lived as spontaneously as possible, and the cumulative effect of the music was a genuine spiritual experience. Jacket is easily the best live band playing these days. The Black Keys are a real close second though!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm in the early stages of the Rosetta Stone French program, and although I'm nowhere near conversational, I would love to have some French speakers around! I think it is a beautiful language, and I'm very interested in French culture. I'm also planning on learning to fly fish this summer!

Every day I learn more about the beer brewing process, and I love exchanging ideas with other brewers and home brewers. Recipe exchange and brewing theory are great, and I'd love to do a joint-brew with anyone interested (brewing is easy, even for the beginners!).
