ABOUT ME

I've always been a Wandering Jew, emphasis on the wandering. Grew up in the States, Japan, & Brazil, primarily. In addition to traveling and meeting new people home and abroad, I read, write, bike, swim, hike, take photos, practice yoga, cook, and bake.

PHILOSOPHY

When people can't travel, books can be their guide to new experiences, new worlds, new ideas, or bring them back to places they've been before.

I hope to travel until I find my home, then build it, make it, then travel some more.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I've been hosting or surfing on couches for as long as I can remember, officially through Couchsurfing and unofficially through friends of friends of friends. It's an amazing way to meet people, get to know the local area, and build community wherever you go. At first it was also a way to save money while traveling, but now, even if I am in a situation where I can afford a hotel room, I'll often prefer to couchsurf because I love meeting the people. I'm really looking forward to having my own place again that I can open up to everybody.

Eclectic tastes in all these categories. I read everything from children's books to adult non-fiction, paperback novels to poetry. As for music, I enjoy everything from opera to hard rock. Movies - Yes. Often. Anything but horror.

American children's literature - I have an undergraduate and graduate degree in the subject. My favorite thing to do is connect someone with the right book for them. Ask me for recommendations, or just general interest in the amazing world of children's lit.
Small business ownership - I've been managing small businesses for almost 10 years, and now actively help people open their own. There's always more to learn, but I am excitedly preparing to open my own in another few years.
Marketing - it's a bizarre sort of passion. I love talking about it, because essentially I see it as a way to connect with other people.

Try to imagine what you would want or need as a surfer, and then supply it as a host. At least, that's my philosophy.
