I think these "About Me" things are great, and I love reading other people's, but when it comes to writing one about myself? Oh God. All this blank space and this directive to (essentially) define myself... I LOVED your "About Me." Really! It was great. I feel like I've known you forever after reading it. The ampersand symbol (&) developed from ancient Latin scribes smooshing (the technical term) together the symbols for "e" and "t" in the word "et" (and). Some fonts still show the "&" looking a lot like the original "et" instead of just the weird scribble we have today.

Because "&" comes from "et" it's sometimes used as part of the abbreviation for "et cetera." That is, "etc." is sometimes written as "&c."
