About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meeting interesting, inspiring people, especially those who might give me or my students ideas how to make more creative media.
ABOUT ME
They'd say I'm energetic, and concerned about principles.
PHILOSOPHY
Each moment is precious, make the most of it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Great experiences couchsurfing build faith in the human spirit.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My hosts in Riga, Seoul, Norway and Toronto were among the most memorable parts of the trips. It is precious to be able to feel kinship with people who, without couchsurfing, would've simply been strangers passing on the street.
Interests
Professionally, I believe in responsible factual storytelling.
Personally, I like quiet time in nature. I like understanding commonalities of the human spirit, and cultural differences. I've done classical Indian Dance, Shakuhachi, Japanese drumming, martial arts.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've found some interesting fusion music on www.magnatunes.com. Try Jami Sieber for cello, and Irish Harp. I also like the Hang-- an instrument like a steel drum I've just discovered.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Gosh, I've hung out with homeless and been in the company of presidents and kings, all in the name of 'work.' Among the many moving things-- witnessing the recovery of Aceh after the 2004 Boxing Day Tsumanmi, directing a documentary film that had impact. Most amazing, to me, is that my students in China find me and my life path an inspiration. It's an honor. I have lived in China since they were babies, and I am amazed that... I have seen enough to share changes in their country with them.
Teach, Learn, Share
I always enjoy sharing thoughts about factual storytelling, communications, and how this impacts the world around us. I'd love to share my experiences making a documentary film, shot over three years in the slums of Beijing and a remote Tibetan village. WWW.zantathefilm.com (or www.nowheretocallhome.com)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to swap life stories and inspiration. I'm happy to bring something from afar that is of interest. I'm happy to share my documentary film "Nowhere To Call Home" and share the process and updates.
