About Me

Hello :)
I am Bekah! I grew up mostly in Boulder Colorado, but have been living on Oahu, Hawaii the last 6 years. I am currently working and traveling through South East Asia teaching English and yoga! I have spent the last 9 months in Vietnam and Thailand and am now finishing up my travels before I head back to the US in August. I am a pretty mellow/laid back gal looking to meet other cool people from around the world. I am no party animal but definitely enjoy drinking a good glass of wine or IPA on occasion. I LOVE coffee and quite honestly spend a lot of my down time checking out new cafes to chill and read a book or chat with friends.

This is my first experience with couch surfing, so that's why I have no friends on here yet... still trying to figure out how this works! haha.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couch surfing because I think it's important to meet local people from wherever you go and get their perspective on the in's and outs of the area. Living in Hawaii, we had a few couch surfers stay with us and I thought it was cool meeting other like-minded travelers and getting the chance to help them out!

Interests

I think we can all agree that traveling is in all of our interests :) So other than that, I love finding new coffee shops to read a good book or catch up with friends. I really like to be active so whether that's yoga, hiking or surfing (although I am not that good at it), I like to try new things! Good food is essential as well... I am always down for local street food, but there's nothing like splurging and going for a nice meal, good wine and even better company!

Music, Movies, and Books

This is always a tough question...too many options! Depends on my mood I guess. But mostly I like to listen to more mellow music like Trevor Hall or Nahko and Medicine for the People. I love going out for live music and getting my groove on to band like Rebelution or STS9.

The Alchemist & The Monk who Sold his Ferrari are a few classics that I have read several times.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learning how to drive a motorbike in Vietnam! If you've been there, you know how crazy the traffic can be. If you haven't... imagine insane traffic with hundreds of motorbikes, trucks and cars with no rhyme or reason, constant honking (form of communication), never looking before you turn and absolute CHAOS!
But... it works somehow. There's a nice ebb and flow to the traffic and despite the craziness there's not really any road rage. So that's a pleasant surprise coming from the U.S.
Youtube a video... then you'll understand why I am proud that I can successfully drive in it! haha.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to meet other people who are down to earth and open minded individuals. I think we are all here to learn from each other and it's awesome to be able to share that with people from all around the world!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a good laugh over coffee or beer, vinyasa yoga classes and mediation (don't worry I won't pressure you into it), and a clean and quiet person staying in your home!
