Hi I'm Bel and I'm an Australian traveling on my first solo trip in BC, Canada! I'm exploring and traveling about before I start working in the Rockies in mid March. I'm looking to meet peeps, absorb myself in cultural experiences, learn about Canada's way of life and to keep my eyes open for all opportunities.

A little about me? I grew up 6 hours west of Sydney on a hobby farm with cows, horses, dogs and chickens so I'm a bit of an animal lover. When I was 17 I went to university for 6 years to study journalism and law. For the past 20 months I've been working in outback Australia (near Uluru/Ayres Rock) which has been incredible and opened my eyes to all the wonderful things travellers are doing, as well as the types of challenges and experiences I now want for myself. So, now I'm ready to take the plunge and just explore!

I'm a musician and have performed professionally for about 10 years - I love it! I sing and play acoustic guitar, but also know a bit of ukulele and piano. Whenever possible I love to sing or teach others how to play guitar. I love having jam sessions with friends around a campfire or in the lounge room - so if you're a musician there's a good chance we'd get along!

I enjoy meeting likeminded and friendly people, and would love to visit places where the outdoors are at my fingertips. Running and hiking are definitely two activities I love and wish to pursue. Meditation and less screen time are also important! My friends would say I'm outgoing, fun and love meeting new people, but I also value my downtime as well and respect other's space.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about Couchsurfing from a rad dude I used to live with. He used to talk about the wacky and incredible experiences he had while traveling the world and using Couchsurfing. I'm yet to give Couchsurfing a crack - hence the lack of reviews (sorry!) but I know it would be an incredible way to meet others, try new things and peer into one's life and way of livin' in a different country!
