About Me

I'm a second- year university student, studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics, as well as majoring in French. I embarked on my first long-term backpacking journey at age 15 with my mum, exploring Europe, India and Thailand for five months. I learned more in that time than all the rest of my schooling years combined! From that time, I knew that travel is the best teacher. I currently work as a bartender at a couple of restaurants/ pubs around Melbourne, and love that it allows me to be constantly meeting new people!

I've also been vegan for a few years now, which has influenced the way I travel and see other forms of life around me. I love experimenting with new vegan recipes and hanging out with animals, and also have an ever-growing indoor garden in my bedroom. I'm generally happy to just sit at a quiet cafe or bar and read an interesting book, but do enjoy a big night out from time to time too. I also love exploring the great outdoors, especially living inner-city, where I don't get the opportunity to do so as often as I'd like :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I caught the travel bug at a young age and have never looked back. I love how travelling can teach you so much about the amazing world we live in, as well as about oneself. I think CS offers an amazing opportunity to meet locals when travelling and to experience foreign cities in a less touristy, and more authentic way! (As well as, of course, without the hefty costs of hotels and hostels). I also love that CS allows hosts to experience some of the fun aspects of travelling while still being at home, and to continue to form a network across our global community, learning about all the corners of the globe!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 15 my mum and I stayed at some yoga and meditation ashrams in India, which was my introduction to both practices. I dived straight in the deep end, an experience which I am very grateful for. These practices have helped me to be more present and centred, which is useful in every area of my life. I know some people have a resistance to taking in new perspectives, but I think that experiencing this at a young age has helped me to be a more open minded person.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm always up for a great philosophical/ political/ spiritual chat and love exploring new ideas, and discussing how the world works. I also love to cook so would be super happy to make you a delicious vegan dinner in exchange for your hospitality :) I speak fluent English and intermediate/ conversation level French, so also love teaching and learning languages if anyone wants to practice either of them.
