I studied French and English literature in Cairo university for four years, then I traveled to America to study civic engagement at Miami University, Ohio. After that, I came back to Egypt and started working as a freelance photojournalist for almost a year and a half, during which I got published by several media outlets and news agencies like AP, AFP and Anadolu Agency.
In July 2016 I was sentenced 15 years in prison for my work documenting the political turmoil in Egypt, and I escaped the country heading to South East Asia where I spent almost six months there.
I arrived to Spain at the end of 2016 and I applied for asylum. My application was accepted and I am currently an admitted refugee in Spain.
