About Me

Hey! My name is Belen and I finished high school last year. I'm going to study Film Production at Chapman University in California in August and until then I'm looking to get some work experience.

Seeing new places and meeting new people fascinate me! I can be shy at first but after a little while I will loosen up and I really enjoy hanging out with people and going on mini adventures. I like parties but I also like staying in and eating takeout while we watch Netflix so I am down for either.

PHILOSOPHY
Do whatever you want as long as you don't hurt anyone else! I'm a feminist, I don't believe in gender stereotypes, I think everyone should do what they wanna do. I'm pro rights for everyone and love meeting openminded and unprejudiced people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just want to travel in general (like everyone on this site, sorry I'm not original) but right now my short term goal is to go to London to get some experience in the movie business before going off to college.

Obviously though, I'm on a tight budget and Couchsurfing will not only allow me to save money, but it will also give me the opportunity to meet people when I am travelling alone for the first time. I think it is an awesome way to connect people from different parts of the world.

Interests

I love movies and TV shows. I watch way too many TV shows and movies for one human. I also love books, especially dystopian fiction and fantasy novels. I like to travel to far off lands when I read. Good world-building is the best!

I love learning, too. I like watching documentaries or reading articles and books that teach me history or psychology or anything about other cultures and humans in general. I have 6 months free until I go to college and I am missing the classroom haha I believe that you can definitely learn from experience though, and that is what I want to do by travelling.

Possibly my favorite thing to do is to go on day trips and try new experiences, do things that I don't do on a daily basis. This could mean catching a train and exploring a new city or finding fun activities that I have never done in my home town.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is impossible! But I will give soooome of my favorite.

Music: Bastille, Imagine Dragons, Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, Ed Sheeran

Movies: Any by Christopher Nolan or Wes Anderson, Mad Max Fury Road, Fight Club, Gone Girl, Inglorious Basterds, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Books: Harry Potter, 1984, The Hunger Games, The Book Thief, Paper Towns

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I see everyone with their awesome responses to this and I feel super boring haha I like to think that most of my amazing experiences are in my future. For now I...
Have been to Machu Pichu
Went on a bungee swing? (Is that what it is called?)
And lived in 3 countries

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't have a lot of talents but I could teach you Spanish if you'd like! And if you are already learning I could give you an opportunity to practice it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share laughs, stories and an excuse to go do touristy things even though they are locals. I can also share movie recommendations, Argentine drinking games (which I'm a huge fan of) and bad jokes (which I am full of).

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, Dominican Republic, England, France, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Peru, Romania, Turkey, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela
