About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To delve into the world around me - its peoples, cultures, landscapes, history. To explore. To share myself with friends I meet on my journey. To walk the roads less taken, and to drink deep from the wellspring of humanity.
ABOUT ME
I am passionate about the world around me, especially its beautiful, diverse landscapes, cultures, and people. I recently finished a graduate degree in English and Creative Writing in Calgary, Canada, and then set off on an adventure around Australia and New Zealand, where I was introduced to the amazing world of courchsurfing. I am most at home when I am outdoors - hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, backpacking. But I'm also very social and adore dancing (especially lindy hop, swing, jazz, and salsa), BBQs, campfires, social gatherings. I love reading and writing, and am also right at home on the stage.
I spend my summers working for Alberta Parks near Jasper, Alberta, but my autumns and winters have for the past 4 years been spent at school in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta (Canada).
I am very excited to be part of the extraordinary CouchSurfing community - I can't wait to meet you all!
PHILOSOPHY
Enjoy life, be happy! Follow your heart - your head isn't always right!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would like to make new friends from around the world, host people in my city, and surf the world. I want to be involved and make a difference.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted strangers and friends at my staff home at the park where I spend my summers. We've had an excellent time hiking, exploring the landscape, and sitting around the campfire.
I also love hosting swing dancers for community dance events - we always have a ball!
I surfed couches for a month in Australia and also met other couchsurfers in New Zealand. All have been enriching, welcoming, wonderful experiences.
I'm also excited to start paying it forward when I return to Canada. I've met some amazing people on this trip.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love novels of all kinds, and enjoy non-fiction too. I listen to pretty much everything - my favourite music styles are ANYTHING I can dance to, blues, big band swing, and folk.
My music recommendations: Dani Michael, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Shiny Toy Guns, Feist, Mumford and Sons, Pink Martini, the Bow Djwangos, Modest Mouse, Love and Mathematics, the Polyjesters, Shane Philips, and Duffy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw the flash of a meteorite in Edmonton. It crashed into central Alberta in 2009. I also cycled around New Zealand by myself for two and a half months; to travel on a bike is to see the world in a whole new way.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd be happy to give you some swing (lindy hop or jive) or salsa dance lessons. I am also a writer and would love to give you advice on your poetry or creative writing. I'm also a fairly good editor and I make a good listener if you need some advice or a helpful ear.
