About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Understand and experience as many different lifestyles as possible

ABOUT ME

My favorite activities are learning, making things, cooking, and adventuring!

Learning: I read the New York Times obsessively, and love books and good conversations. Topics I'm especially interested in include urbanism and urban planning, sustainable everything, technology, psychology, and world affairs.

Making things: If it can be made, I've probably tried to make it! My current project is a queen sized quilt! Other things I've made include tables, shelves, beer cuzies, and earrings.

Cooking: I'm all about cooking food that is delicious and energizing! I try to cook mostly vegetarian to lighten my impact on the earth, stay healthy, and save money, though I do love fish and then occasional steak or hamburger! Trying new foods is one of my favorite things about traveling, and I would love to cook (or at least share!) a meal with you to learn about your favorite dishes!

Adventuring: Nothing gets me stoked like a good adventure! My favorite way to adventure is on a bike! Some of my favorite bike adventures to date are:
- A marathon tour of Denver, Colorado in which I visited every single B-Cycle (bike sharing) station in the city in one day.
- Multiple four day tours through the mountains and plateaus of beautiful Colorado
- A self-supported three day tour that I did with my boyfriend from Amsterdam to Rotterdam in the Netherlands
- Pretty much every bike ride I go on in the fabulous city of San Francisco where I live!

PHILOSOPHY

When in doubt, do it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

All of my experiences couchsurfing thus far (in the Netherlands and Turkey) have been amazing! I live in a fairly crowded apartment in San Francisco (4 people sharing two bedrooms and 1 bathroom) and work full time so haven't had the chance to host yet, but I hope to do so at some point in the future!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed for the first time in 2011, and all of my experiences were amazing! Fascinating people, amazing houses and flats, delicious food, and wonderful conversations and friendships. What more could I want?!

Interests

In addition to the interests I outlined above, I adore line-drying my laundry, warm summer nights when the wind rustles the trees, folk-rock, Birkenstocks, second-hand stuff, dates (the food), eggplant, cooperative living, ultimate frisbee, green buildings, rain, public radio, Frida Kahlo, sleep, the New York Times, Pimsleur language tapes, camp songs, handstands, Settlers of Catan, architecture, backpacking, hugs, avocados, vegetable gardening, hula-hooping, and living sustainably.

Professionally, I'm interested in how economics and behavioral science can motivate individuals to live more sustainably.
