ABOUT ME
Isabella: I am a straightforward person. I generally view a glass as half full although it can happen that I have the impression of being caught in a circle of bad luck (you know, every traffic light is red...) and stick to Schopenhauers "Alles Leben ist Leiden." I am at home with two kids. Work a little bit part time from home (translation, pr, product design) which I enjoy a lot.
Johann: I would describe myself as very openminded, interested in other people and their thoughts and stories and how they see the world.
I actually learned to be a toolmaker, but soon realized that I wanted to work with people. I did a 3-year's training as a nutritionist in Bavaria and after my civilian service studied psychology. Right now I work as a clinical psychologist in a hospital in Salzburg I also work with overweight children (cooking courses,...) and hold spinning classes at the gym once a week (payed workout!).
PHILOSOPHY
too hard to answer... we would have to discuss that (over a nice dinner?)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We are very excited about CS - joined a while ago and made a few experiences. Didn't have time to surf (cough nor internet) for a while but kids get older and things get easier.

Interests
Isabella: I am interested in all kinds of things. I love arts, travelling, coffee, reading, painting, cooking (thai, indian, italian) and baking (mostly american and austrian), swimming, running (when I can get away and the weather is nice and I am in the mood, and...:-), potery, sewing (check out Carla's custume!)...
Johann: I love my morning newspaper, love sports (espescially mountainbiking) and cooking. I like nice evenings with yummie food, lots of talking and a good bottle of wine. I used to do motocross races but this was too much for my back. And mountainbiking lets you enjoy nature much more! If you like to hit the mountains - salzburg is the place to be. Another passion is reading. Of course I am interested in everything that concerns the human psyche. But I also like sociological topics, books about different aspects of child development and cooking/nutrition. I never seem to have time to get a novel started...

Music, Movies, and Books
Isabella: I love movies and went a lot during my stay in the US. Right now unfortunately I don't get to go a lot... But luckily there are DVDs. I am quite into Prison Break right now and usually watch a few episodes on one evening together with a few friends. Among my favorite movies are Magonlia, When Harry met Sally (not just because of this one scene in the restaurant!), Dead poets society, Ever after; I also love reading and if my level of language skills permits it, only in the original version. No reading right now though! I loved 'The curious incident of the dog at the nighttime', like Irving and Wolf Haas.
I really am not a great music expert. I hardly know names of musicians. Among the few I know and like are Sam Phillips, Carla Bruni (hence the name of our little girl), Van Morrison, Mika, Jack Johnson, Zucchero, Coldplay, Go Betweens;
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We visited a family farm in eastern Thailand that produces silk. Fascinating!
Teach, Learn, Share
Isabella: I love to do crafts and will be happy to show you how to knit, paint, work with felt, clay, ... I also play the guitar and am happy to teach you a little.
Johann: I am a nutritionist and am happy to tell you what food will help you to look young, grow old,... :-)
I am also studying psychology and since you are on my couch already...
