Overview
About Me
Love yoga, meeting people, great food, exploring nature. Previously worked as a software engineer in San Francisco before leaving to travel for 6-9 months. I love San Francisco and will likely return there in the next few months, but first would like a few more amazing experiences. I speak some German but would love to practice and improve if you are a German speaker!
I can't accept guests because I am traveling long term and currently do not have a home!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been traveling in South East Asia for more than 4 months, staying in Hostels. However I will be traveling in Europe during July, and my budget will not allow staying in hostels much of the time. Additionally, I'd like to have different experiences while traveling in Europe, staying with and meeting people, whether on Couchsurfing or volunteering through Workaway.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love music! My favorite contemporary artists right now all have an electronic component: Sylvan Esso, Chet Faker, Flume, Banks, Snakeships, MØ. I also love hip hop and r&b (think Childish Gambino, The Roots, Erykah Badu, J. Cole, Corinne Bailey Rae). Also love a handful of classic bands like Talking Heads (probably my favorite band), David Bowie, The Pixies, Flaming lips.
I like comedy movies like Wedding Crashers, Knocked Up, Annie Hall, and tv shows like 30 Rock, Community, Brooklyn 99, Parks and Recreation, Scrubs. I'm a bit of a reader (was a literature major). Recently I've been reading Haruki Murakami, Sylvia Plath and a book about humans called Sapiens.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I took a motorbike trip in Northern Thailand on this trip that had some incredible ups and some brutal downs. Here is a list of things that happened on this amazing journey:
- Was chased on my motorbike by two dogs for a good 200 meters.
- Stuck my foot across the Myanmar border and watched the sun set over Myanmar hills from Thailand.
- Had lunch with a Thai local whose dream is to become a famous rapper and offered to take me that night to smoke opium. I couldn't, I still had 100kms to ride that day.
- Crashed when a Thai driver turned left about 20 meters ahead of me. Got pretty bad road burn on my shin and had to have stitches at my elbow.
- I ate the most delicious burger I had in all of my time in Asia. At a place called "San Fran Burger!"
- Got stuck in a huge thunderstorm on the drive back from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai. My phone sustained water damage and I thought many times I would perish as well.
Arriving in Chiang Mai I was the most worn out I've probably ever been. The only other time I can remember that I've been as tired was in 2015. I rode from San Francisco to Los Angeles (more than 800kms) on my bicycle, 144kms just on my last day. I camped the 9 nights it took to do it, so for my first night in LA I booked a 4-star hotel. Nothing has been as luxurious as sleeping in a king size bed after 9 nights in a sleeping bag!
Teach, Learn, Share
If you are interesting in learning to code I would be happy to spend an hour or two (or more!) helping you with whatever you're learning, or to help you get started. For example, I can help you scope out tutorials and set up your computer to program in a language such as Ruby or Javascript!
I can also help you with english if you are looking to improve yours. If you are a german speaker I'd love to spend some time practicing my german with you.
I've been practicing yoga for 4 years and would be happy to practice with you, whether you are a beginner or have a regular practice. I also meditate often and would love to discuss or practice with you.
