About Me

I'm currently traveling around the world on a year long project looking at how different communities are responding to coral reef decline. I love marine science, anthropology, and interesting collisions of the two. In particular, I think coral reefs are just about the most amazing things you can see above or below the ocean's surface. There's something about being surrounded by life at it's most exultant and diverse that reminds you just how small you are (and how sophisticated the natural world can be). At the same time, I definitely also have a soft spot for New England's colder waters. I did some of my growing up on Nantucket Island, MA in an old house my grandmother lived in for most of the last years of her life (when I say old I mean it. There was writing in the attic from 19th century whalers) and it was there that I first developed an appreciation for the sea.

In addition to my appreciation for all things marine, I'm also a runner, a singer/pianist, and I like playing bananagrams, catan, and Ultimate Frisbee. Recently, I've started getting into photography and have been taking the hobby more seriously as I've traveled. If you're interested in going for a run, a throw, a jam, a board game session, or a shoot, look no further.
