About Me

I've been on two exchange trips. One to Germany for 4 weeks and one to Spain for a year, both in high school. Since then I've gone to Clemson University and got a bachelor's degree in Physics and Astronomy. While at Clemson I took up board games, mead making, and rock climbing as hobbies but I've continued to travel. Travel has always been a passion and I love hearing stories from other travelers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting the locals. I feel the best way to experience the world is through the locals rather than the tourist attractions.

Interests

I love to learn and try new experiences. There is very little I wouldn't try at least once.

  • swing dancing
  • cooking
  • video games
  • board games
  • traveling
  • mountaineering
  • scuba diving
  • rock climbing
  • whitewater kayaking
  • mead

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Spain with a local host family for a year in high school.
I've climbed on El Capitán in Yosemite. One day I hope summit.
I've been scuba diving in Bonaire, where an octopus attacked my dive buddy. I proudly filmed it! (After making sure she and the octopus were alright of course.)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love sharing travel stories and am also open to teach anything I know though I did get my degree in physics so it might put you to sleep. On the other hand if you like trying new drinks I've been making mead since 2015 and typically when I travel I try to have a bottle or two of it on me to share with my hosts. If you're unfamiliar with it, mead is a honey wine. Think wine but instead of grapes you use honey. I also love to cook. When I travel I frequently find myself without a full kitchen at my disposal for weeks at a time so when I couch surf I enjoy the opertunity to cook something for my hosts. I can make a killer chicken alfredo but also learned how to make tortilla española from my host mother while living in Spain. College taught me how to make homemade mozzarella sticks and fried oreos. I love to cook and feel food can be a fantastic way to share culture as well as a great medium by which to get to know new people. Aside from cooking, if you want to practice English or Spanish, I'd be happy to help. I myself need to keep practicing Spanish or I'll slowly lose it. I'm also a huge fan of board games and card games. While I'm hosting I have a wide range of games for everyone, whether they are brand new to the hobby or have been in it for years. While travelling I leave most of my board games behind but I might have a card game or two stuffed in my backpack that we could play if you're interested. Overall I'm a fairly open person and I find joy in sharing experiences with others.
