About Me

Hello! My name's Ben. I'm a student at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington where I mostly study psychology. I am from Indiana, and after four years in Eastern Washington I am still very excited about being on the West coast.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has provided me the warmth I crave when visiting new places. One day I will host. It's such a neat act of generosity.

Interests

I, unfortunately, don't play frisbee or make pottery anymore. I still think both are super sick and could geek out over them at the drop of a hat-- they're just not accessible like they once were. I am not an comedy improviser but I think improv comedy is one of the coolest things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am still working on developing a taste of music. I cannot curate a playlist for the life of me but would love to follow yours, listen to it a lot for a month or so, and cycle back into it a year down the road. I like live music in small venues but not big concerts.

I've been binging fantasy books for a year or so and my current favorite has got to be Patrick Rothfuss. I am playing catch up and am only now reading Dune--my god. I like David and Amy Sedaris. I like modern Buddhist books and especially dig Chogyam Trungpa, Pema Chodron, and Shunryu Suzuki.

As for movies, I feel like I like the good ones in any genre. I most recently saw A Clockwork Orange and that was, well, something.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trained a rat to play basketball!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach bread making! If there is a bakery you like, please share it with me and I will investigate. Besides that.... I'm a learner.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope we can share our senses of humor with each other. I would love to bake you some sourdough-- I'll hopefully have my starter with me. If not, yeast it is! I can share fantasy books as I finish them and share snippets of crazy adventures... that I've read about and are made up. I can also provide some food and drink if we get a chance to eat together.

Countries I’ve Visited
