About Me
I'm a (slightly burned out but oddly prolific) writer living in Malibu, California.
Which is a good place to be a slightly burned out but oddly prolific writer.
F Scott Fitzgerald lived in Malibu in the 1930s - so I am in good company.
I have persuaded my friend John "Verizon John" Ortiz to customize his utility shed into a guest house - called The Surf Shed - which he has listed on AirBnB.
But I said if there are days when The Surf Shed is not being rented on AirBnB he might want to make it available to travelers.
The Surf Shed is close to the beach and about a mile from central Malibu: Surfrider Beach, the Malibu Pier, the shops and restaurants downtown.
Malibu is a naturally-blessed place with good weather and nice beaches and good surfing and lots to see and do - natural and cultural.
The Surf Shed is tucked away, quiet, private and sunny: There is secure parking to a garden path that is equally tropical and desert: Cactus and palm trees.
And an odd menagerie of wildlife: Rabbits, squirrels, quail and parrots (!?) by day.
Owl, coyote and other critters by night.
All of it lulled by the sound of the surf, and the sun and stars of perhaps the best climate on earth.
Some argue southern Sicily is as nice as Malibu - but that's a bold statement.
This is a nice corner of an interesting place.
The Surf Shed is small but comfortable. There is an attached outdoor shower.
No kitchen, but you're in Malibu, dude: Lots of places to wine and grind.
So if you're passing through, let us know and we'll let you know if we have room.
