I live in a small town in North Idaho called Sandpoint. We have a lake and a ski hill here, and it's a beautiful place to call home. I publish a weekly newspaper called the Sandpoint Reader and my girlfriend Cadie and I love to travel when we can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We were asked by a friend to join his 39 foot catamaran for a transatlantic voyage from Madeira to Antigua in late November, 2018. We are going to fly into Portugal three weeks before departure to backpack and see this amazing country. We are learning Portuguese (slowly) and would love the opportunity to meet some locals on our travels. Cadie and I play in a band and would love to connect with any musicians out there, too.

As to the larger reason of "why Couchsurfing," I've always believed in traveling the furthest you can go off the least amount of money. We're not the type of people to stay in 5-star hotels and insulate ourselves from the place we are visiting.

One amazing thing I'm going to DO is sail across the Atlantic Ocean in Dec. 2018 with my girlfriend Cadie. We're traveling in Portugal for three weeks until we leave Madeira Nov. 30.
