About Me

Twenty something year old with itchy feet.

Worked as an event producer for tech events which has taken me all around from Europe, east and west coasts of the US to India & Egypt.

I've also been lucky enough to spend most of 2015 travelling on my own watch with my girlfriend Caoimhe (www.couchsurfing.com/people/caoimhe-byrne). We spent 9 months hopping around the south east corner of the globe.

For 2016, we're heading to South America on a new adventure...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Looking to try something new and experience places more like a local than a tourist. Have experienced some incredible hostels, airbnbs, homestays etc but now looking to branch out and be apart of the global CS community.

When at home in Dublin, I love showing off our great city and countryside to visitors. We tend to have 4 seasons in 1 day but there's plenty to do and see whatever the weather.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Everything from good old fashioned rock and roll to chill jazz to feel good funk and disco. All encompassing from The Beatles, Bowie, Tame Impala, Miles Davis, Donna Summer, Paul Simon, Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Arcade Fire, Chic, Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem, Ray Charles to Buena Vista Social Club, Bon Iver, The Smiths etc etc.

A more succinct description might be any Wes Anderson soundtrack.

Movies:
Usually anything from Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan and Tarantino, Spielberg, or along those lines. I like checking out foreign language films too. City of God, Intouchables, Le Haine to name a few.

Fantastic Mr Fox is an all time favourite

Books:
My favourite books would include Catcher in the Rye and East of Eden and Sherlock Holmes, along with Harry Potters and The Hobbit. A good auto-biography or spy novel usually goes down well or some behavioural economics or psychology books (Predictably Irrational, Freakonomics, 10% Happier and the likes).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swam with Whale Sharks (the largest fish in the sea) in Donsol, Philippines

Teach, Learn, Share

Sharing stories from around the world.
Teaching some useful English and Irish phrases.
I usually travel well stocked with Irish tea which is the key to any good chat.
Love trying new food and drink.
Learning basic Spanish
I have a well stocked hard-drive full of films and great TV series!
