About Me

Well, the first thing you need to know about me is that I always stumble over this part of a profile.

I mean, what is there to say? I'm a pretty boilerplate young adult male Canadian. I work as a deckhand on the great lakes, and spend my free time doing activities that end in 'iking'. (I'm particularly fond of viking). I've only traveled a little so far, but, well, maybe you can help fix that? I've ambitions to touch on every continent in the coming decades. Except Australia. Too venomous.

I'm kind, generous, reasonable, and fiercely loyal. I can be shy on first meetings, but warm quickly. I'm often overly cautious, which is why I seek out optimistic wildcard traveling partners. I love engrossing myself in unfamiliar cultures and lifestyles. When challenged, I adapt and endure. I've been told I'm funny, like, 30% of the time, so... not bad.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I'm all about the Vonnegut and his many disciples, especially Adams. I also dig Orwell, McCarthy, Herbert, Stephenson, Wong, and have a love/hate relationship with Heinlein, the creep.

Movies: The Coen Brothers, masters of the absurd. I love anything that manages to combine comedy and tragedy, like In Bruges or Stranger Than Fiction, but I'm not above enjoying popcorn flicks. Generally too much of a wimp for horror movies, though.

Music: I'll try anything, but my tastes run pretty pedestrian. I mean, my favorite band is The Beatles, and I'm not just saying that for brownie points, I actually listen to them constantly. Beyond the Best of Classic Rock (Led Zepplin, Queen, Pink Floyd, et al.), I enjoy Folk (both old & new), Blues, Bebop, and Classical. What I won't tell you is that I like comedy bands, too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Have some chores that need doin'? 'Cause I'm real good at grunt work. Seriously, maybe this is the opportunity you've been waiting for to get that ditch dug out, or to move that furniture around. I specialize in cutting and stacking wood and tending to animals. I sorta grew up on a farm, so use your imagination.
