About Me

I'm a 24-year-old guy from the northeastern United States. I studied neuroscience at a little college in Vermont, spent the next two years in Nepal, and will soon begin my next chapter as a medical student.

Not accepting guests at the moment (do you really want to stay with me and my parents in upstate NY?) but I'll welcome you when I'm living in New York City in the fall.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend recently sent me here to save on lodging while traveling around Europe. I thought, stay with interesting people for free? Sign me up!

As a host, I love meeting new people and hearing about their experiences in their country and around the world. As a traveler, I've found that I learn the most about a place by talking to the people that live there.

Interests

Singing (I was in a coed college a cappella group), most sports and board games (and always looking to learn new ones), homebrewing (maybe I'll bring you some), and gardening.

Currently, I'm writing a neo-noir novel, training my family's puppy, and volunteering with an ambulance corps and with Bernie Sanders' campaign.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a bit of a cinephile, and keep a list of all the movies I've ever seen (1679 at present); It's a Wonderful Life, 12 Angry Men, Moulin Rouge, The Departed

Classic rock, alternative, folk, pop, rap...really most music besides screamer or country; Coldplay, Guster, Dave Matthews, Bon Iver

Atul Gawande, Michael Crichton, Orson Scott Card; Love in the Time of Cholera, Lolita, The Count of Monte Christo, The Fountainhead

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal, working on food security and living in a rural village with a host family. One time, I drank cow urine as part of a religious ritual. It wasn't amazing though.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give you a few gardening tips, teach you some American card games, and discuss the art of beer-making. I'm interested to learn whatever you have to offer.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Happy to bake for you, serenade you, or buy you a meal or a drink!
