About Me

I'm an enthusiastic, curious and tidy traveller who has just realised the clock is ON to get out and make the most of the world. On my travels I'm searching for opportunities to build new communities and invest in existing ones, while pursuing my dream of being an actor.

I've spent many years working professionally in Brisbane and Melbourne as a stage and screen actor, along with various side hustles. Most recently, I spent 2 years working for an exciting youth mental health organisation called batyr. In this capacity I was able to engage young people regularly with our groundbreaking programs, and I was also able to grow the organisation in both Brisbane and Melbourne.

I'm a big fan of figuring out how and why people form communities, and the ability to see a few new places in the world really resonates with my goals of building and adding value to communities. The world is suddenly a much more attainable thing with technology, and yet in many ways we're getting less connected - I'm fascinated by this conundrum.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting new people in unfamiliar parts of the world, having the chance to connect and learn from them, authentic experiences, enjoying the benefits of local knowledge!

I am also anticipating settling down at some stage and I'd love to return the favour by being a great host. Keen to learn about Couchsurfing hospitality from the pros.

Music, Movies, and Books

Groove/Funk/Dance/Indie Pop etc. Some of my top artists at the moment are; The Seven Ups, The Kava Kings, Vaudeville Smash, Nick Murphy, Hot Potato Band, Electric Fields.

Movies: I'm usually fascinated by anything that isn't a Marvel film (sorry, change my mind!) Some recent ones that spring to mind are; Moonlight (wrecked me), The Favourite (completely weird and bafflingly funny and horrifying in equal measure), Lion, Whiplash, Nanette (by Australian Comedy royalty Hannah Gadsby), The Meyerowitz Stories and While We're Young

Books: Boy Swallows Universe, The Rosie Project trilogy, Harry Potter was a big part of my childhood, and I'm *deeply* into reading play scripts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I founded and operated a regular play reading community called 'Brisbane Readers' for about 2 years. It was an awesome experience of bringing together likeminded friends and strangers to read plays on a fortnightly basis. I reckon we read about 50 plays together, and the experiment later turned into a series called 'Hotlines' which has become an important part of the arts ecology in Brisbane.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: English, Theatre, Mental Health Literacy
Learn: Cultural experiences, language basics, local cuisine/wine
Share: Bouldering/Rock Climbing, Bike rides, a bottle of wine and a positive attitude!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully sparkling conversations, assistance with household duties, trips to the theatre, reading a play together, gardening tasks, going for a walk or doing some exercise.
