About Me

I'm a sustainability consultant and software engineer currently living in London, UK, Europe (Brexit what?)

I love sport, languages, food, and of course I have a geeky side too. I'm also good at helping people who stress/think too much.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've travelled a lot in Europe and met quite a few couchsurfers, and they're some of the most interesting and open people I could imagine. There is nothing like local advice for finding out about a city, and only a local can tell you how people really live.

Interests

I love learning languages - every new language I learn is millions more people that you can talk to and understand on a much deeper level than if they were talking English. After learning French and Spanish I attempted to learn German, it's a long slog but I'm getting there!

I'm pretty sporty, my favourite sport is badminton - but running and cycling are great too, especially in North Yorkshire. If there is a hill nearby I will climb it, if if there's a lake I will swim in it.

Food is really a love of my life. I am guilty of being much better at consuming than at cooking it, but I can throw together a tortilla de patata when it's called for.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Coldplay, the Killers, Snow Patrol, Mumford & Sons and anything along those lines.

Film: L'Auberge Espagnole by Cédric Klapisch recounts the story of my Erasmus year...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I jumped off the Stari Most (old bridge) in Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina. I didn't, unfortunately, escape unscathed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to improve my French, Spanish or German and pick up some Italian. To be honest, if you're not from the UK, then I'd listen to anything you have to say, whether it be about food, sport, hobbies, places to go...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I talk about languages quite a lot. If that's not your thing, we can talk about thermodynamics instead... or about fun places to visit in Europe. I've been quite a few less-travelled places and I've got some good stories to tell for them! I also know England pretty well so I can tell you all the best places to visit, and the best time to go to escape the rain (you basically need to wait until you hear the phrase 'heatwave' on the news, then you've got a safe window of maybe a week).

Countries I’ve Visited

Armenia, Austria, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Montenegro, Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United States, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In
