Sobre mí

I've been in Sustainable Agriculture for the past 10 years as a means of deepening and expanding my understanding of self. I was raised in a non-religious, conventional manner that prepared me well to be successful in a corporate setting, but limited my understanding of how our natural world supports us. In college I began to feel a draw to explore more of the natural world so choose a life science based engineering. This curiosity brought my awareness to the myriad of environmental crises. Upon graduation I felt it challenging to find an engineering job that didn't contribute to these crises, so organic agriculture was an outlet for me to pursue an honest vocation, gain valuable homesteading skills, and space to consider where my education would be of most value. I eventually felt, through the study and application of permaculture, that putting my focus into the advancement of sustainable agriculture would be my greatest contribution to the perceivable food and health crises.

Through a vast amount of experiences in agriculture, health, and relationships I have now come more aware of my needs and values. This realization revealed to me that being a farmer will never allow me to satisfy all of those needs and values. It became apparent to me that farmers everywhere are not well taken care of just because of the inefficiencies within farm systems, but equally due to a cultural behavior and political environment that does not honor the role of the farmer in our society. It will take a major change in how we, as a collective, value food crops before a farmer has the incentive and energy to do much more than labor.

As my passion for designing farm systems diminished because I could never forsee time for it, I have decided to make a career shift. I am now interested in self empowerment and the human potential. What is it that limits us from expressing our true passion? That is, what are the approaches to identifying and reconciling unwanted barriers within our personality that cause us to become frustrated, depressed, angry, dis-empowered? If we can unleash the eager beaver within us to operate, every day, without fear then I believe we will begin to see an out pour of loving action toward our Earth and fellow living beings. Everyone will be able to freely create, innovate, share, and be their true expression.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has certainly blessed me in my travels. I would like to continue to use it as a way to meet new people and share ideas as I travel where the winds take me. When I have a stable living situation I hope that I can be more available to welcome travelers. Right now I am at the whims of career change.

This past year I have grown a lot . I completed my Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Awareness on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, highly recommended yoga studio. From the perspective of Raja Yoga, very traditional style of teaching. It really helped form an attitude that continues to direct me in a positive direction. I was able to meet up with a fellow couchsurfer at the beach in Honolulu. Sandrine was very kind to offer me a much cheaper place to stay, in which her roommates Tamra and Coco were also very receptive. I had a much more pleasant and fulfilling experience living with locals then in an expensive beach hotel.

I traveled to India to offer service to an orphanage affiliated with Homes of Hope. I love the Indian culture and felt well supported from the culture in my travels.

Just recently this summer, couchsurfing brought me a new best friend from Mexico. I look forward to when I can travel and visit Ariadna, to see her beautiful home. Ari served as a guide for me through a lot of tough emotions. I am so thankful for our meeting.

I now will be heading to Toronto, Ontario, Canada to study medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. I am excited to pursue this journey as it is where Spirit has led me. I continue to do self-work to open, heal wounds, and shed into my true adult self.

My interest in medicine lies in Trauma Therapy, the process of awakening the Adult self. This involves recognizing the child, in our lives as older humans, who is victimized by it's attachment styles. Self Re-parenting that child to merge with our True Adult self. Yoga, Tai Chi, or any stretching and breathing exercises can facilitate this process by opening the subtle channels of the body in which Spirit flows. As we open these channels we strengthen our relationship with Spirit who introduces us to our Adult Self. This process is an ongoing life adventure where we are able to feel and move emotion; and then welcome the gift of abundance that our beloved universe will always provide.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Overcome chronic depression through lifestyle changes including: intrinsic motivation (don't want to live a sickly life and then die), willpower (tired of feeling disempowered), self-responsibility and trust. I also have to recognize the tremendous support of family, mentors, friends and strangers. All have encouraged me to overcome the poison of depression.
