About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Do something awesome before tomorrow

ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Ben and I'm a copywriter and a bit of a nomad. I consider myself quite friendly, maybe a bit quiet sometimes, but always looking for new experiences and opportunities to meet new people. I love change and doing new things. Exploring the world is a passion of mine and I want to see every corner! I'm the kind of person who wants to experience the culture of a particular area, not just the "tourist" side of things. I enjoy appreciating the differences between various places in every aspect, for example, I'm not afraid to try new foods (like the rotten maggot cheese, Casu Marzu, in Sardegna), hike long distances (like in the mountains in Salzburg), or get a little dirty (maneuvering through muddy crawlspaces in Appalachia). At university I studied history and philosophy, so I'm interested in cultural sights, museums, and historical locations, but when the night comes I'm ready to relax with some good food and a nice drink before checking out the night life. I've had some great times out in the world and I hope to have more soon!

Interests

One of my biggest interests is music, I'm a music addict and spend part of everyday searching for new bands and new sounds. I've been in a few bands, but I make a better listener than a musician! Another interest of mine is reading. I also enjoy meditation, which I studied at university under a great teacher. Its a great habit to develop because while there's a lot to discover out in the world there's also a whole world to unravel inside your mind, in my opinion. Another hobby is brewing, which I haven't done abroad, but I used to do it at home. I love trying craft beers and particular beers from every part of the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I've ever seen was the Taj Mahal in Agra, India. It's one of those things you can see a picture of a million times, but in person it still blows your mind. Definitely worthy of being one of the 7 wonders of the world!
Another awesome experience for me (as a history major) happened in Dublin, Ireland. I went to St. Michan's church hoping to see the graves of some of Bram Stokers' family (I had recently read Dracula), and ended up going on a tour of the place. We saw the church and then went down into the crypt, where I was surprised to see that some of the coffins had broken open (after centuries) and the bodies were mummified! The guide showed us the body of an 800 year old mummified crusader, and said that in the old days it was good luck to shake hands with a dead crusader when you entered the church, so he let us each touch the hand of the body before we left! Yeah, I know, it's kind of gross, but I thought it was really amazing to come into contact and touch the body of a guy who was fighting in the crusades 800 years ago! Just think about it!
