ABOUT ME

Both my wife and I are librarians. We moved to Fargo in January of 2012 when she took a position at the NDSU library. I'm currently working on an MBA. We live in a two bedroom apartment (the smaller one we call the "study" because it has a bookshelf and a desk). We can offer a decently comfortable couch or japanese style floor mattress. We have two cats.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I mainly plan to host people in need of a place to stay. I'm hoping that we can build a couch surfing community here in Fargo, but we'll see how active the participants in this area are. I don't travel much, but I plan to give the surfing end of this thing a try someday.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't surfed yet myself, but I'm mainly in it to break up the routine and have people stay with us from time to time.

Interests

As you could guess from our profession, Carolyn and I enjoy a lot of the calmer and quieter activities (We are stupidly stereotypical. Both of us own several cardigans). Neither of us is averse to going out for a drink, but bars are usually too damn loud. In my opinion, a group of 5-8 people is the best number.

Reading, obviously, is high on the list. I also play Go (board game). We like to cook together, and Carolyn bakes bread. We do all the usual things that 20-somethings do: go out for a drink, watch the latest buzz-worthy show, play the board games everyone seems to learn about in college (e.g. Settlers of Catan).

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Lately I've been listening to a lot of Arctic Monkeys, White Stripes, Vampire Weekend, and a guy named Seth Sentry.

Books: According to my ratings on Goodreads, my favorite books are Catch 22, Lolita, Middlesex, and Hamlet. My profile: http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/7839990

Movies: I host an Internet movie night with my friends where we watch freely available bad horror movies on Youtube and chat about them. So that gives you an idea.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The existence of commercial flight amazes me every time I get on a plane.

Teach, Learn, Share

This one is probably difficult for everyone. I guess since I'm a librarian, my main ability would be teaching people to learn. Conducting proper searches, using databases, assessing source validity. Super Boring Stuff.

I also know a lot about menswear, so I could explain the difference between an oxford and derby style shoe. This is not useful knowledge to have living in Fargo, North Dakota.
