About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To boldly go where lots of other people have gone before!

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Northern California near San Fransisco, went to BYU for college and got a BA in Neuroscience, minoring in Sculpture and then spent a couple of years in Guatemala. After finishing undergraduate I moved to Rochester New York where I'm just about to complete my MD. I move to Harlem New York in June. I love swing dancing and art galleries.

PHILOSOPHY

"Space isn't remote at all. It's only an hour's drive away if your car could go straight upwards." -Fred Hoyle

"Harold Crick: What is wrong with you? Hey, I don't want to eat nothing but pancakes, I want to live! I mean, who in their right mind in a choice between pancakes and living chooses pancakes?
Dr. Jules Hilbert: Harold, if you pause to think, you'd realize that the answer is inextricably contingent upon the type of life being led... and, of course, the quality of the pancakes. "

'The greatest mistake we make in this life is giving up what we want most for what we want right now.'
-David O. McKay

"In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer."
-Albert Camus

Music, Movies, and Books

A friend lent me some Hemmingway, and I found myself identifying very closely with protagonist. Great stuff. I really like Life of Pi. I just finished a book on propaganda, and have been watching a bit of Manufacturing Consent. But I've gotten pretty burnt out on books. I've recently discovered podcasts and have been listening to a lot of WNYC's Radiolab, This American Life, 99% Invisible and Dan Carlin's Hardcore History.
I have kinda eclectic tastes in music but am currently on a 20-30 swing music phase. It's great to dance to.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once played with an ocelot in small villa nestled between four volcanoes in the highlands of Guatemala. That happened.

I once helped a team of surgeons take out a mans left carotid artery. Turns out you don't need it.

I once got on a train for 7hr (14 hr round trip) for a first date with a girl that I had only talked to for about 15min. Yeah, that didn't work out. But I have no regrets.
