About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to prove to myself and others that the world is an amazing place, full of amazing people
ABOUT ME
Hi, my name is Ben, I've recently come back from a 3 year trip through Europe and a few other places.
I'm just working on saving some cash to study in Denmark, and do more travelling!
PHILOSOPHY
Personal philosophy?
I have many.
1) Grow a beard.
2)More often than you think, the universe will provide you with what you really need.
3) The world is an amazing place, full of amazing people.
4) The majority of people are good. Never loose sight of this.
5) Doing the right thing is sometimes not easy or financially advantageous. If it was, everybody would do it all the time.
but you should always try to do it anyway.
6) Try to respect people, even when they seem to insist on making it hard.
7) It's nice to be nice.
8) I could probably go on, but I shouldn't...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Look, so many people have shown me so much kindness on my travels, and I'd really like to "pay it forward", so to speak.
While I can't really host you in my current living situation, I'd love to show you around town, or meet up for a coffee/beer or two.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've stayed with a few people, been shown around by a few more, and come to the conclusion that people on CS are fucking awesome!
Interests
I love music, especially live music.
I think all genres can be great if they're done well, but naturally, there are some I prefer more than others (rock, blues, punk, metal, roots, hip-hop).
I used to play guitar back home (in the real world), but I'm taking a ukulele with me while i travel, which I'm slowly learning to play. It's a lot more portable than a guitar!!!
I enjoy a good book - my favourite writer is Hunter S Thompson, but I also enjoy writers like Charles Bukowski, Jack Kerouac, George Orwell, Chuck Palahniuk, and Gregory David Roberts.
I also like films. If i had to pick 5 favourites, they'd be "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers", "Machete", "Pulp Fiction", and "Snatch". These choices, however, do change on a surprisingly regular basis!
I like to cook, especially for my friends. There's nothing quite like having good food, good wine, and amazing company.
While not on the road, I like to brew my own beer, and I'm pretty excited about trying as many different European beers as I can while I'm over here.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travel and meet amazing people.
That's it, really; I think a lot of the time, the people you meet can be more important than the places you go to.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I can teach you how to play some basic guitar, and cook a pretty mean roast lamb.
that's all I can think of right now - I'll try to come up with more.
Oh yeah, now that I'm home, I can show you how to make ice-cream.
I fucking love ice-cream.
