About Me

My girlfriend Annie and I are excited to host you!

I'm currently tied up in grad school, so that limits the traveling some, but my girlfriend and I love to have guests. We have lots of excellent recommendations for local food and drink, and a great porch for sitting in the down time.

I think the world is inherently beautiful, that people are good, and a cynical world view reflects a failure of imagination. Most importantly, I believe we are responsible for our own happiness. We achieve this by being generous, showing compassion, and recognizing our individual places in a global human family, and the human family's place in a global ecology. That travelling, like acquiring material objects, is only valuable insomuch as it is used to further one's intellectual and emotional growth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I like traveling on the cheap, and engaging with the people and places I meet along the way. The world is vast, and we can't possibly experience it all as individuals. But each carry a little bit of our homes with us, so by sharing with others we can reach those far flung places we might not otherwise get to see.

Interests

Much of my travel is driven by my passion for the outdoors. I read, write, climb, bike, jump, and run as much as possible. Recently picked up the mandolin, and much of the colder months I spend reading and writing short fiction for publication.
