ABOUT ME

Well my name is Ben, that a good place to start,
there are a number of things I hold close to my Heart,
To travel around as much as I can,
From places like Oz, Singapore or Japan,

I have spent the last nine months of my life,
In a country down-under trying to keep out of strife,
Starting off in Sydney it was too good to be true,
Then I spent all my money and I was in the poo!

So I needed to find a way of making money,
And ended up in SA which was so hot and sunny,
Got a job selling glasses which was alright by me,
And got taken in by a family which ment life was free,

But now is the time for my adventure to start,
Heading up the east coast before I depart,
For three amazing months backpacking around Asia,
Starting off my little trip in beautiful Malaysia.

So I hope you have enjoyed my own little rhyme,
And I havn't taken up too much of your time,
But if you've got a couch an you think you will be free
Then send me an email the drinks are on me!

I have given some money to help this keep going. I pretty much also tell everyone I meet on my travels to at least check it out because its a great way to meet some truly amazing, like minded people.

Not yet done any offical couchsurfing.org couch surfing but spent more than my fair share on a couch!

Interests

I love to travel and document with cameras. I can often be found (when at home) on the terraces of my beloved Southampton football club. I love all sports but more then anything, I love spending time in the presence of open minded people whoare up for a laugh.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love travel books which you read about interesting adventures such as anything by the teacher turned cyclist Ann Mustoe, Long way round-Long way down and anything written by Bill Bryson. Reading Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs at the moment, highly recommended.
My musical loves vary from the true indie days of Englnd with Oasis, Blur and Supergrass, to dirty electro house or drum and bass.
My favourite films are Vanila Sky, Blow and the whole Bourne trilogy

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Three years ago I decided that I would go to America to work in Summer camps with heavily disabled children. If I am honest, initially I didn't want to do it because I thought it would be too hard and I would be able to have any fun. But it ended up being the most amazing thing I have ever done. The people I met were incredible and the amount I learnt about myself was scary. Some people in the world go through the most difficult things every day, and witnessing this really helps put things in to perspective.
