Hey, I'm Ben from New Zealand. I decided to skip out on the last month of New Zealand's summer and move to the UK to live - I thought it would be great to travel through Europe on the way, as I've never been, despite visiting the UK a couple of times.

While I'm travelling I'm hoping to find a couple of cool places in Europe to live, as I would like to live in continental Europe in the future - so if you think your city/town is awesome, feel free to tell me so!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I plan on travelling for a couple of months before settling in London, so I'd like to get a good impression of Europe while I have the time available. I'm hoping people on couchsurfing can point out a bit more of the local culture for me, than what you see on the travel sites!

Interests

Right now I'd say my main interests are travelling, music/podcasts, video games, and sociology. The first two are definitely taking over at the moment though :)

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite music of the last couple of years has been golden-era hip-hop (A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, De La Soul, etc.), but I'm also really into funk, soul, jazz, and some rock. Favourite movies is quite hard but some great ones are Interstellar, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Casablanca, A Clockwork Orange.

I'm not nearly as big a reader as I should be, but I loved the Dan Starkey novels by Colin Bateman. I'm quite a big fan of graphic novels and love Scott Pilgrim, Chew, and Saga.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent my first ever white Christmas snowboarding - it was absolutely amazing, I had spent 18 years enjoying summer Christmas days in New Zealand, and then found myself travelling through Canada in December. For a few days around Christmas I went up to Whistler (a mountain in British Columbia) and spent a long time snowboarding, spending Christmas day just chilling out on the snow was absolutely amazing, a few times I sat down and just took in the scenery of B.C. it's incredibly beautiful there!
