ABOUT ME

We're a Belgian-French couple, whose paths crossed in a lively bar in Dublin. After having lived in several countries for some years, we kind of 'settled down' in Geneva.

Although we've traveled quite a bit, we still feel the need to discover muuuuuuch more! That's one of the reasons we joined CS; we love to hear people's experiences abroad, get fresh ideas and share some of our 'adventures' in return.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've been hosting people in our small flat in Geneva since January 2012. We love hosting because it's a perfect break from daily routine. Not two surfers are alike, so there are always new stories, new food experiences, new friends coming into our lives.
From May till December 2012, we have traveled around the world and surfed many places in Asia, Australia and the US which has made this trip so much more than just visiting a lot of countries!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We became very curious about CS after having seen a documentary on French television. We both find this such a great initiative! On our 2012 trip around the world, we've met the most amazing, generous people through CS and the fact that we got to be part of their daily life in a foreign country has been such an enriching experience!

The most amazing thing about CS is the opportunity to meet new people with always different stories that make you travel to new places and open your mind to different possibilities.

Things we like apart from traveling are cooking, discovering food we don't know, learning languages,dancing, skiing,hiking, rollerskating, swimming and watching series when it rains.

Altough Benoit doesn't like reading, he has read everyhting by the French writer Beigbeder.
Marieke likes to read a lot,current favourite books are Freedom by Jonathan Franzen and The pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet.
She also loves everything written by Dutch author, Herman Koch.

We watch a lot of series. At the moment, we're into Dexter, Mad Men, Modern Family, The Office,Miranda, Breaking Bad...
