About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Shun guidebooks and hostels and meet the locals

ABOUT ME

I am a 27-year-old who believes he should have been born somewhere else and had a different passport, a French one maybe. Then at least I'd have the choice of living in the EU. Or maybe my mother could have married a man from another country. Instead I'm stuck with this ol' Aussie one.
My most recent adventure began in July 2010, with an initial one-month holiday in California and the intention to continue onto Montreal and live there. A year later, I'm still in San Francisco, living and working in one of the most fun, unique and open-minded cities I've ever been.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't accept that the life you are given is 'it'. There's more out there.
Too many people are satisfied with their 'lot', and don't realise that life was not meant to be lived in a certain way, but in whatever way you see fit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Saying 'yes' to every local experience that comes my way.
Through couchsurfing, both officially and unofficially, I've been effortlessly able to arrive in a city, and forge some kind of life and 'crew' through the people who I stay with.
If I have a couch, when I stop travelling, I'll be on here hosting!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had an "official" couchsurfing experience, but I have slept on couches of friends of friends more than my fair share of times. On this trip, they've all been locals and this is my first time going completely 'hostel-free' on a trip, and it's been exponentially more rewarding than any other hostel-oriented trip I've ever done!

Interests

Linguistics, languages, English grammar, reading, journal writing, going out dancing and letting loose, talking to strangers, honing my writing skills so I can break into travel writing, writing my blog, photography and taking photos.
